Newbie in Indiana Adopted an approximate 10 yr old Yorkie a few weeks ago. He came in as a stray and the shelter tried for 3 weeks to find his owner. We think it might have been a situation of a senior that may have died or gone to a nursing home and family didn't want to deal with the dog. Very unfortunate because it's obvious this dog was loved. Thank you for allowing me to become a member so that I can learn more about the breed.

Congrats on the new yorkie! It's terrible someone would do that, but it's their loss. It's great he has you now . They're a really awesome breed. I got my 1st this march, and she's certainly got her own unique personality. Welcome to YT!

Thank you for finding it in your heart to take in this precious senior! An unfortunate situation turned into a wonderful outcome...and you could very well be looking at another 6-8 years with this baby! Looking forward to pictures of the lucky young man!

He had a dental cleaning the Friday before I adopted him. 9 teeth were extracted. He feels so much better but I believe his mouth has hurt him for so long that anytime you touch his mouth, he shows his teeth and tries to bite. It's been a challenge giving him antibiotics for 10 days as he wouldn't take it in any kind of food. We had to give it to him by syringe twice a day. I'm glad that part is over; it stressed him out as well as us! Here's a pic after he was groomed on Saturday. I might be criticized for the short cut but it keeps food out of the hair. I like it better!

| He is cute and I like his short cut. Not everyone keeps the longer hair on there yorkies here some like me like the convenience of the shorter cut
