Newbie in Indiana Adopted an approximate 10 yr old Yorkie a few weeks ago. He came in as a stray and the shelter tried for 3 weeks to find his owner. We think it might have been a situation of a senior that may have died or gone to a nursing home and family didn't want to deal with the dog. Very unfortunate because it's obvious this dog was loved. Thank you for allowing me to become a member so that I can learn more about the breed. |
:welcome4: :yorkietal :welcome4: Welcome to YorkieTalk. It's always great to greet a new family member. What a big heart you had to give this senior citizen a home. I hope he brings you many joyful years. Would love to see pics of your little one. |
I have pictures, just need to figure out how to upload them! Thank you for the welcome. We look forward to a few more years with this little guy! |
Hello fellow hoosier and welcome! |
Hello and Welcome to YorkieTalk! :) |
Congrats on the new yorkie! It's terrible someone would do that, but it's their loss. It's great he has you now :). They're a really awesome breed. I got my 1st this march, and she's certainly got her own unique personality. Welcome to YT! |
Congrats and Welcome to Yorkie Talk. You have two of my favorites, a rescue and senior. Please post pictures and post any quesitons you have, we are full of good advice. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk:D So thrilled you gave this senior a good home and love. Always good to have another Indiana Yorkie! |
Welcome and congrats! You did a great thing taking in a rescued senior. There is a lot of great information here. And wonderful people to help with questions |
Thank you for finding it in your heart to take in this precious senior! An unfortunate situation turned into a wonderful outcome...and you could very well be looking at another 6-8 years with this baby! Looking forward to pictures of the lucky young man! |
Welcome to YT! I'm so happy this fella found the right person to care for him. Can't wait to see pics! :) |
1 Attachment(s) He had a dental cleaning the Friday before I adopted him. 9 teeth were extracted. He feels so much better but I believe his mouth has hurt him for so long that anytime you touch his mouth, he shows his teeth and tries to bite. It's been a challenge giving him antibiotics for 10 days as he wouldn't take it in any kind of food. We had to give it to him by syringe twice a day. I'm glad that part is over; it stressed him out as well as us! Here's a pic after he was groomed on Saturday. I might be criticized for the short cut but it keeps food out of the hair. I like it better! :) |
He is cute and I like his short cut. Not everyone keeps the longer hair on there yorkies here some like me like the convenience of the shorter cut |
He's adorable! No one here would criticize you for the way you cut your baby's hair. He looks very happy :D Thank you for rescuing him! |
Congrats on your babie. Welcome from a fellow Hoosier also. |
