| Need Advice on my Yorkiepoo puppy My Yorkiepoo (Spike) is 8 months old and he use to be really good in his crate at nights but lately he has started barking around 12:30am and we go to bed at 10pm. He is kenneled 8-10 hrs during the day and I exercise him and play with him but he still barks at night after a couple hours. Any advice on what to do? I can't stand hearing him bark for too long so I get up with him and put him in the spare bed with me so my husband can get some sleep. And usually he goes right to sleep curled up next to me. My husband and I do NOT want him sleeping in the bed. Please help! |

| If you don't want him sleeping with you then you're going to have to stop letting him do it. He has learned that barking gets him what he wants. Also if he's crated all day and all night then he's probably lonely. I would ignore his barking until he finally gets the idea that he's not going to get what he wants. Could you leave him in an expen during the day?

| i tried this and it worked with my foster. my yorkies didnt want her in bed with us so i have a stroller for lola. i took the stroller and put it next to me on my side of the bed. she slept in it all night long with no issues and if you stirred i would just pet her and she would go right back to sleep. just a thought. hope you get it worked out.

| Thanks! I will try ignoring him. I will have to buy earplugs for my husband and I so we don't have to hear him bark. Hopefully this will help. I know I started a bad habit by letting him sleep with me every time he barked at night. I hope he doesnt bark too long and realizes he won't get his way anymore. It's so easy to give in to him when he has such a cute face!!! |

| If you don't want him in bed, it's not a good idea to give in and sleep with him. He is learning that barking gets him what he wants... If you have to, maybe put him in a different room in the evening so he will be less likely to try and wake you up. With my fosters, I give them their own bed on the floor so we don't have any issues with them wanting to be in our bed.

| Columbo used to sleep with us and he would tuck in close, which makes for not the best nights sleep. We got him an extra bed, which we keep on our king size bed down at the bottom in the middle. The footboard keeps it from falling off. It keeps him in bed with us, but out of our way. Could that be an option? |

| When I did have him sleep in the bed with me, he did sleep close to me and I didnt get much sleep because of that. We only have a queen bed with not footboard at the end. I think I am going to try putting him in one of the spare bedrooms with the door closed so it limits the sound of him barking. Hopefully we can get this resolved in one or two nights! |
