| I think this is very much not true. A good breeders dogs never end up in a shelter because in the contracts it says if you cannot take care of this dog you are to bring it back to the breeder.

| This is also not true all of the time. Some people don't abide by the contract. There have been many good bred dog's that end up shelters and rescues.

| Some breeders even have the microchip with there info on it in case that ever happens. If I where a breeder I would try to stay in touch as much as possible that way hopefully they would follow the rules of the contract. But I am not a breeder and would never be a breeder so maybe I don't not exactly how hard certain things are or aren't. I do know that some people can't just go to a rescue and rescue a dog with unknown breed, unknown health problems, and unknown training so thinking those people who don't rescue are bad is not right. I had to have a yorkie and it could not be a mix because a yorkie was the best dog breed for my Grandma with COPD and my asthma.

| I foster rescues and believe strongly in adoption. I am very familiar with the issues. Having said that, Donna, I am so sorry your thread was hijacked and taken so off topic. I am also sorry that you were put under the eye of the microscope in regards to how you acquired your sweet Lola. You have been gracious in supplying answers to questions that were meant to somehow discredit you. Lola should not ever have been brought into this. Yes, this thread is a spillover from another thread that was closed, and each side passionately felt they had points to make. None the less, this thread, though informative, went off topic. In my opinion, all vets should be knowledgeable about the pet store purchased dog and the puppy mill connection. Ethical vets will try to council clients and discourage random breeding by sub-par, untested dogs of any breed (including Yorkies), even though I'm sure some of a vet's income is derived from the treatment of client's sick, puppy mill bred dogs. I would not knowingly patronize a vet that encouraged irresponsible breeding, or continued to encourage a client to breed again in the future. I would also not patronize a vet that aligned themselves with puppy mill pet stores. I would change vets even if I had received good care in the past, based on my personal morals. Any professional worth their salt should be educated and informed about the issues that impact both their profession and their clients. And that is my 2 cents worth. Let the bashing begin!

| thank you Kim and others that answered my questions, I had started to think that perhaps I was crazy to expect that of vets, so when in doubt of my views I like to seek opinions of others, however I guess my intention was misunderstood, but LOL this is YT and it will not be the last time that happens ![]() I will not be on the board for the rest of the day, lucky me, I found out that there is a huge pet expo in town with indoor dock diving. Since Lola is my first dog to love the water and is now just for fun jumping off our dock I am excited to enter her in her first dock diving event I put Lola in two splashes and also get some practice rounds, then later this evening she will be in the dress up your dog contest, so she will go from Tomboy to Diva, but that's just how my amazing little yorkie pom rolls Gail gave me some more good pointers, so wish us luck
