HELP! 11 wk old puppy drooling a LOT

It's best not to give them any water or food for @ least 1-2 hrs before & after a car ride, esp if they get car sick. Mine love car rides & never got sick (vomit), but I think they get motion sickness bc they'll be panting even if it's not hot. You can also get her accustomed to getting in the car w/out actually driving off. She'll get used to being/riding in the car, sticking her out the window in no time!

Thanks so much for the advice! I think part of why she did better on her second trip was because she hadn't eaten much. We are going to try the short car trips soon as well. My oldest, Chloe, does what you describe too! She never gets sick, but she pants from the time we get in the car until the time we get out. She very rarely pants any other time, so I'm sure it must have something to do with the anxiety. She's been making monthly 2.5 hours trips to visit my parents from the time we got her and she's 3 years old...you'd think she'd be used to it by now!

My little Max drools as soon as we get in the car, and usually pukes around mile 10 on any trip.

I bought him a thunder shirt and nice car seat so he can see out of the window, but the drool and puke still happen.

We are working on it slowly. Going out and sitting in the car without going anywhere, driving up and down the driveway, a little drive around the block. Poor guy, he just does not like going for rides.

I've read that ginger is helpful with nausea (in humans as well as animals) and that sometimes giving a dog a gingersnap cookie before travel can help. Not only do they get the ginger to help with the motion sickness, but they also get a treat which makes them associate car rides with good things. We may try this on our next drive.
