| ![]() If I'm going to run a quick errand, I put Ernie in his crate but if I'm going to be gone for a few hours then he goes in his playpen with his brother Poochi in the kitchen. I used to leave him in the kitchen (using a table top as a gate) but then he started eating part of the wall but the playpen seems to be working out, even though it's 2 feet high Ernie is able to jump out it but hasn't been given enough opportunity to figure out how to consistently jump out of it but luckily you can buy a mesh roof for the playpen (keeping my fingers crossed this won't be necessary!!!) |

| ![]() ZoE usually has the run of the house.... but I'm remodeling my kitchen & building a laundry room in the middle of the house, so I have stuff all over the place, (Kitchen cupboards & drawers emptied out & stuff stacked in the living room & all my china stacked in my living room, as I had to empty the china cabinet & buffet to move them, so my kitchen counters could come in through the front door...it's a mess...& I up to last week, I literally had everything INCLUDING the kitchen sink in my living room) so...I've been putting ZoE in my bedroom when I leave the house. I turn on the tv in there & make sure the blinds/drapes are open so she can see out, and I put her pee pad & food & water & toys in there as well. I think she's gotten used to it, because sometimes during the evening, she'll go missing & I go look for her.....there she is up on my bed, snuggled in the blankets snoozing away.

| ![]() Ahi pretty much goes everywhere with me. If I absolutely need to leave her home she has full run of the house with the t.v. on to keep her entertained. Although I believe she stays close to the door and windows to wait for us to come back. Usually someone is home with her otherwise. (Hubby or teenage son)

| ![]() We have gates and crates. If we are going to be gone a few hours they run loose. If we are going to be gone most of the day, Rubin is crated he is older and grumpy. Gracie has free run and pee pads Ginny Joy and Abba are gated in the office with pee pads. Longer than 6 hours we get one of the older grand children to Yorkie sit. Over night, we use an adult house, Yorkie sitter.

| ![]() We take Jaeger when we can, too. I'm a stay at home gal, so he's only gone when we run errands or some outings. He's crated in the front hallway with a water bottle and some chewies. He's 9 months but not 100% potty trained, and he's a bit spiteful yet-he's deliberately torn stuff up or peed on the bed because so and so didnt come into the house after I was dropped off, so the crate it is for right now. I've also been told that if firefighters find an animal during a search, they can take it outside, but they are NOT allowed to search for animals, and that scared animals usually hide during a fire and dont try to escape. Therefore, crating an animal allows it to be rescued in an emergency.

Yorkie Yakker | ![]() my little one is still 5months, so i put him in his crate still usually, as i would say he is about 90% potty trained, but still has a accident once in a blue moon.I say ifyou have a puppy, crate him,but if he is an adult it is up to you

| ![]() When Copper was younger, we put him in his x-pen when we left. We still do that if we stay in my mom's vacation home or at my daughter's house. I make the pen as big as I can (8 sections) and Copper does fine with a potty pad, his bed and bowls and a couple of toys. At my house, my kitchen is next to my den, so I gate off that area. He does not have the run of the house, but the two rooms are plenty for him. jYou have to do whatever works for you. An x-pen is actually a great place with plenty of room for a yorkie in my opinion. ![]() ![]()

| ![]() P-Nut just turned 1 and we leave him in a large pen when we go out. He’s perfectly happy in it and we don't use pee pads anymore. He's never had an accident. I'm waaay too nervous to let him roam freely yet. |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | ![]() We never leave KS in the house alone for more than 3 hours. If it's longer, she goes to doggy daycare. We usually leave her for running short errands like to the grocery store, pharmacy, etc. When we leave, she has run of the house. Of course, we have dog proofed the house to the best of our knowledge. She is pee pad trained and so far has not had any accidents while we are gone. I leave the tv on for a bit of noise. Sometimes if it is a nice day, I'll raise the blind so she can get on her favorite window ledge to look outside if she wants. If it is nighttime, we shut all blinds and keep on several lamps. She hated being left alone at first, but now it has gotten to where I can be at the door, say the 'stay' command and she knows she has to stay.

| ![]() My two usually run errands with us, but on the rare occasion that they don't... they have full run of the house. When we are gone for longer periods of time, I confine them to a bedroom with potty pads so they don't have the temptation of getting into things. Couver has been known to make a mess if we leave anything out, so I try to limit the amount of time that they are out without us home ![]()

| ![]() Harry has run of the house....but we still shut the bedroom doors upstairs ![]() We didn't let this happen 'til he was about a year old though....because we realised Mr. Houdini could escape from anything.....so it wasn't really worth 'enclosing' him! ![]() Scarey the first few times for us (a gradual process!).....nothing to do with pottying, just the worry of him chewing and getting into stuff he shouldn't....! ![]() |
