Finally got my yorkie

to the OP (AJ) you are new to YT but perhaps this will help you understand that as a public forum everyone is intitled to post their opinion. However everyone is not intitled to call other members names and directly insult them. The fact of the matter is you have read enough posts on YT to know that after members took the time to post advice you went ahead and took home a puppy at least 4 weeks earlier than the majority on here would do and 4 weeks earlier than the national yorkie sanctioning body advises. If you could care less about that then to be quite honest you will not be happy on Yorkie Talk, because most of us here care more about the well being of the dog compared to the happy feeling the human member has. I wish you well with your puppy and it is a shame that you exhibited this attitude because what you may not realize, but I have seen first hand, is this group of people will often diagnose the root problem in a dog long before a vet does and give you the shirt off their back for free to help you with a medical issue

This is so very true and it's also the reason I send people I meet with new yorkies to this site. I registered here during my research into the breed and breeders.

I am sure by now, every "vet" and "expert" with an online PHD in breeding experience has raked you through the coals - your pup is adorable and his well being is now in your hands and I just hope that your hands are the right ones. What many "experts" seem to lack here is the day they saw and fell in love with their 1st yorkie - 45 yorkies later it is all about genetics, age, pedigree - I for one know that pup that steals your heart as I searched for 3 years before I found a male ( first and only male dog ever - now almost 4 years). He stole my heart at 5 weeks and he stayed with mom until he was almost 9 weeks as I refused to pay less to take him and pay for his shots on my own. I did not buy him for his pedigree, for show and all these experts on here are losing tons of money by constantly degrading people's choices instead of showing their PERFECT dog in the arena - not everyone on here but a lot of them - while genetic health is important for your pup and the future heartbreak/expenses it could bring you - I have pet yorkies and they are more like my kids than dogs - i would give mine a kidney if they needed it and it was possible and could care less if their mom or dad ever set foot in the arena - congrats on your new baby and enjoy him for many years !!!!!!!!!

No that is not my philosophy. My philosophy is genetic testing needs to be done and a good breeder follows there breed club. I have a dog who was not breed by a good breeder and I love her dearly but she has already had to have a surgery that cost over $3,000 dollars and will need another as well as many other problems that cost a lot of money but she has to suffer because of a bad breeder!

wow... when checking my email this morning I see that our op sent a very lovely pm to me. This message removed any dought in my mind of her motive for this thread. I see by the above I am not the only person that was send a rude crude pm... and I am thankful that it has been delt with.

geezzee.... and I did not say anything bad to her, just it is better to keep the pups with the mom. Sad people that this is what they spend their time on.

At the end of the day the folks who care most about Yorkies, regardless of how different we all our, as are our pups...are still at YT, theres not just a few of us there are many of us...Again and again I say 1. For future reference how do you report nasty pm's. I copied and pasted on the thread which apparently is the wrong thing to do.
I must apologise to those exposed to the nasty tongue lashing because of this.

I am so sorry that happened, some people just can't handle different opinions.

To report you can click on the little white triangle in the corner (outlined in red) or pm admin or Ann or Jmuedog...I think...thats how i do it!!!

Hello and welcome to YT. If you have any worries or concerns it is a good idea to call your vet. Things can go down hill very quickly with small dogs.
If you would like a short article I wrote about adopting puppies younger than 12 weeks old, just let me know. You may find it helpful with potty training and bite inhibition issues.

The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America says 12 weeks and they have done research into what is best for the breed so it should be followed by any good breeder who cares about the breed. Yorkies learn a lot from there mom up until 12 weeks and they learn things that are very important. Its not about the money you have to pay for a sick dog with genetic problems that could have been avoided with testing its about seeing the poor pup or dog in so much pain and misery and not understand what is going on. I would pay any amount in this world to not watch my dog suffer from issues she has because of bad breeding. It breaks my heart. We can help to limit suffering of pups and there parents by not buying from bad breeders and puppy mills so they don't make money and have no choice but to shut down.
