| I think the best brush depends on the dogs coat. I keep Jada's coat fairly short in a puppy cut. I can't use a pin brush on her because the bristles are spread too far apart and it does not get all of her hair. So the slicker works best for her. She loves it, so I definitely don't think it hurts her. I brushed my arm with it and I had to brush pretty hard to make scratch marks and even then there were very few. I never brush her hard and I always put conditioning spray on first and comb it through. |

| Slicker brushes are really made for double coated dogs that need to have the dead undercoat pulled out. Poodles in particular need a slicker brush. I have never had to deal with a cotton coated Yorkie so I don't know how beneficial a slicker brush would be for that kind of coat. I do know that a slicker brush is not necessary for a silky coat. A good pin brush like a Madan brush works great. I really only use the brush for finishing Gracie's coat. I always make sure any tangles are taken care of with a good metal grooming comb before using the brush on her. I do think that most any dog needs grooming tools that get all they way down to the skin in order to prevent any mats from forming there. |

I also use Yorkie Shine detangler -- I don't know if it's the best one out there, but it does make Lucy smell great especially after a few hot muggy days. | |

| I use a tangle teaser brush, which I find brilliant as Alfie hates getting brushed and this is great with any matting.Tangle Teezer the Detangling Hair Care Brand This is the link to the website for info
