YT Addict | Once Again I find myself turning to my YT friends................ Just a little over a week ago, I posted my concerns about Rylee's reaction to an antibiotic (Baytril) that she was on for an ear infection. I also posted the results of taking her back to the Vet for her reaction (depression) which was changing her antibiotic. Well.............the ear infection is gone, she is no longer depressed.............never did stop eating and she is still eating well! Now................there appears to be blood in her urine. I will definitely be taking her back to the vet again tomorrow, but in the meantime...........I have some questions. She is not acting the slightest bit sick, she is eating well, her bowel movements are normal and she is VERY active. Is it possible to get a secondary infection from an antibiotic? I'm thinking she has a UI and praying that it is not a Liver Shunt. I've read up on Liver Shunts and she certainly isn't displaying any of the other symptoms, but I'm scared. I need some support.................. If any of you out there have any stories of similar issues............please.............I need to hear from you!!!! It just seems like if it's not one thing, it's another!

| The sooner she sees the vet and you know whats going on the better you will feel. It may be just something like a bladder infection. Hopefully nothing serious and she will be back to her ole' self in no time. I know its hard. I worry over the slightest thing with mine. Praying for good news. |

| I think the antibiotic kills off most of the germs and can allow yeast to flourish and that infection creates an environment that allows new bacteria born or picked up to rage into a bacterial infection. I think that is what I recall of the process. Let the vet check her out.

I am not a medical/vet professional, by any means, but don't get frantic just yet. Take her and let the pros check out your baby. Good luck...will be thinking of you both...and wishing you the best! {{{hugs}}}

YT Addict | Thanks everyone! We ended up taking Rylee to emergency last Sunday night. That vet though she had a Urinary Tract infection so she put her on yet ANOTHER antibiotic. She told me if that didn't stop the bleeding than it might be stones. The bleeding stopped until tonight.........now it's back! So......back to the vet tomorrow. I'm getting so scared! I know she is in for a series of tests now and then the waiting for results! Please pray for my baby! It would kill me if it ends up being anything serious. She is still acting completely normal, still eating, still playing........I'm so confused but more than anything else, I am terrified!!!!

| You might want to look up the side effects of both antibiotics she was taking...might be some clues there, since she had a bad reaction to the first antibiotic she was given. Also, coconut oil is beneficial for lots of reasons, but also to pancreas and with stones...and most dogs like it...mine lap it from my hand or a dish, or are more eager to eat kibble when it is drizzled with it. Good luck...hope all goes well for your baby...will be thinking of her with best wishes for her good health. {{{Hugs}}}

YT Addict | Vet today at 4:15pm Have an appt. with the vet at 4:15 this afternoon. I updated them on the emergency visit from two Sundays ago and how that vet put her on another antibiotic. They asked me if she was straining when she passed the blood, which she is. They didn't sound alarmed which always makes me feel a little better. All of you here make me feel better too...........you guys are the best. Thank you SO much for all of your support. I feel like I have to have my vet on speed dial these days. I will update you all as soon as I get home from the vet. I promise I will be better about it this time. Sorry for the "no update" last time................my sister and I are trying to get a new business off the ground and I've been swamped!!!!
