| Topknots Ok so as many of you know, I will be getting my first girl yorkie in a few weeks. I already ordered some bows for her and got the alligator clips for the backing. So how do you this lol Do you tie the topknot up with a rubber band and then clip the bow in? This is so sad that I'm even asking haha My sister just yelled at me the other day for the sad attempt I made at putting my 2 yr old niece's bow back in her hair.

| I had never had any girls. Just boys so I understand. The first few attempts at putting Rosie's hair up was awful! I use scrunchies for everyday use. they are easy to work with. On bow days, I use clear bands and then clip the bows in. I don't do an official topknot. Instead I just put hers up like a ponytail. Does that make any sense??? You will LOVE dressing up a girl!

| I LOVE dressing up my little girl too! Her hair is just now long enough to make a short pony tail and she's finally getting use to me playing with her hair. I found small alligator clips at Hobby Lobby and wanted to try to make my own bows. Does anyone know if there is a you tube tutorial on bow making? Congrats on your new little one! |

| I am AWFUL at making topknots! I keep having to re-do them. One time, LUcy just put her head down and went to sleep while I was fixing her hair. Even though my nick name should be 'fumbles', I keep trying to make the top knots. I want her to get used to it in her hair. |

| I use bands, then I put the top knot bow over it. I don't like clips.

| Oh ok. I can def do a pony tail! It's the only thing I really know to do with my hair on most days anyways. lol So what exactly is a topknot then? It's a pony tail on the top of the head...right? haha I was watching a video on Susan's (bowbizbows) website and it looks like they tie the front and then also tie the hair behind that in a separate band...I just got confused lol

| You should sew the clips on because the glue doesnt hold that well and you wouldn't want them to swallow one. Yes there are videos on youtube.

| It is best to put a grooming band in the hair before the bow. Just putting a bow in will usually result in it being taken out rather quickly. Always watch your puppy closely when it has a bow in the hair because they can choke on them if they take it off (which they usually do at first) You may want to start out just putting the grooming bands in loosely at first. Nothing fancy. Just enough to get her accustomed to having something light in the hair. Then work up to a light weight bow in the hair. I am putting a couple of links you can click on to help you try and figure this out. Just remember it takes patience and training to get a pup to accept a bow and she may be a bit older before you get her to the point where she accepts it. Do practice daily though to get her used to it. Placing Bows - Videos : Dog Bows, Quality Dog Bows - Yorkie, Maltese, Shih Tzu - by BowBiz Latex Free Dog Grooming Bands, 500 - CLEAR, 3/16" | eBay |

| Thank you so much everyone! And I will def be looking into those topknot pillows but I'll wait first just to see how she is with it. Maybe i'll get lucky and she'll be calm about it...but seeing how Geno is, she'll probably be anything but calm lol

| I use a Pillow Pet to keep Molly's head still. She stands and just lays her head on the Pillow Pet.
