| ![]() Gizmo got neutered and he's still his sweet, bouncy, feisty self. He loves to cuddle, but then again loves to bark at me from across the room insisting I turn on his heating pad! ![]() No worries, your baby will do wonderfully. There's plenty of members on here who went through the spay process, and came out wonderful!

| ![]() Jilly and Tibbe were spayed and neutered respectively & neither changed in any way. I do know when Jilly had heat before she was spayed, she didn't seem happy for the duration. She was very restless, constantly licking at herself, standing in front of me like "Do something!". It was hard. I was so grateful to see her not have to go through that every 6 months.

| ![]() Tibbe is hyper! He is more of a bouncer than Tigger! He barks a lot. I love him bouncing all over, having his big say about whatever goes on moment to moment. He's trained to quieten when I can't take it but largely, I let Tibbe be Tibbe and enjoy his doggie ways. I got a tiger by the tail when I got him and neutering didn't change a thing about him. Some aggressive males with dominant traits or male dogs that mark, I've long heard it said by vets & those that should know, that neutering helps them settle into a normal male dog's life. But as for Tibbe, didn't change anything I can perceive. If he were any more active & engaged than he is, I would have to have a dog-helper in - LOL!!! He's always had a zest for living that removing testicles didn't touch! Jilly was a soft little love of a girl who was a joy to be around, a proper little lady with absolutely no bad habits, happy, totally lacking in any nerves or behavioral problems and after 6 1/2 years of knowing all her traits, I had her spayed and noted absolutely no change except the loss of the trials of heat cycle and the pregnancy/cancer fears. She lived to be 12 1/2.

IT would be misleading to tell you spaying is without risks. Not to say not to because the risks of not spaying are far more guarenteed and worse. I'd never use a spay neutneuter clinic, do the prespay bloodwork to eliminate almost all risks, ask about anethesia used, who will monitor after recovery, how long after recovery will they send your baby home I chose to take my dogs in at 7 am to ensure they were first ones on the table on the vets alter day, I wanted to be called as soon as my baby was out of surgery, I requested my dog receive pain meds 40 minutes after surgery when anesthesia wore off, AND I TOOK MY BABY HOME THAT NIGHT most vets insist on keeping dogs overnight and then you find out noone is even there overnight what ki d of logic is that!? My vet had a tech overnight but also had about 12the dogs in recovery I said no thank yoy please put in the stitches cover the incision with liquid bandaid and I will pick ny baby up before closing where she will be hand fed boiled chicken breast nutrical and medicated at home with me in her own kennel by my bed. Unfortunately my girl is one of the rare few who now tinkles her bed occasionally in her sleep sin e her spay...not a lot its just a little leakage but it is a side effect from spay.

| ![]() Oh yeah about behaviiral changes, I was cpbcerned about this and about the boys being around ger recovering. Mornibg after Princess' spay I took her to potty with the boys and kept them away Princess was heavily medicated and wobbled to potty, stumbled to the door abd then ran at Elvis and proceeded to hump him...I thought to myself oh good she's back to normal already. Princess' side effect is because her spay was so invasive, btw she had a spay abortion and was a lil overweight at the time.

| ![]() Welcome to YT. You will find good information on this site. We love pictures. The best advice I can give you, is find a good Vet that is very experienced with toy dogs.
