| Transitioning from disposable to washable pee pads... This may have been answered before, but I couldn't find it anywhere... I have been using disposable pee pads for Zoey since I got her and she does great with them... no accidents! However, I am interested in transitioning into the washable pee pads to save money and go green. How would I go about teaching her to go on the washable pee pads? Also, I'm also concerned that Zoey may start mistaking the rugs around the house for pee pads and start having accidents on them. Has anyone had this problem when using the washable pee pads?

| I don't have an issue with ZoE using washables or disposables and she will use either from day to day. I think it's that I focused on "where" to go, not on "what" to go on. It helps that my house is very tiny so her one place is easy to get to right in the middle of the house (in the hallway). Do you have one potty location or do you have various spots in the house that you put potty pads?

| When I was transitioning, I just simply placed the disposable potty pads on top of the washable potty pads for a few days. After a few days of doing this, I stopped placing the disposable pads on top of the washable ones and now she goes on the washable pads with no problem. |

| I have her pee pad in one location near the back door of our house. I don't let her go into the bedrooms unless it is bed time or in the bathroom unless it is bath time, so she really only has access to the living room, dining room, kitchen, and hallway throughout the day, so when she needs to potty, she goes straight to her pee pad by the back door.

| YT member 107barney has a website with beautiful and very well made pee pads. http://www.tbumpkins.com/ She gives a discount to YTers, so if you decide to go with hers, check her YT signature line for the code.

OP: If you are not looking for pretty pads, I would recommend Ryan.....YTer RDB911 He sells plain pads and I know a lot of people like them. He is a reliable vendor.

| My dogs generally don't pee on carpets. Right now, I have yoga mats all around my kitchen for a dog recovering from ortho surgery and no one has peed on them. I trained them to use pads in designated locations and prior to using pads I used dog litter so I kept the litter boxes (placing pads inside) and kept the same locations. I encourage people to keep pads in the same locations so the dogs know the designated spot. I think this is true for any indoor potty system (disposable, washable, litter, grass, etc) that one should keep it in the same locations. People tend to have more challenges when they have pads all over the place or when the dog doesn't want to go on pads that are soiled. I also think that it is important to keep the area clean so the dog will not be deterred from using the potty system if it is dirty.
