Wow, you're lucky you can have rugs around the house and use any type of pee pad. I had to give my rugs up for a few years, but I can now use them again. I had no problem switching Joey to washable pads. You could put a little wash cloth in the middle of their disposable pee pads and catch some of their pee and wash it with the new washable pads, and their scent will be on the pads. Don't bleach washable pads and don't use fabric softeners, which can make them less absorbent. You should never wash them with other clothing or towels, unless you want to turn that item into a pee pad.
