I think they roll in poop/carrion instinctively, too, just to invite the immense & intense attention they would get from other dogs in the pack or family. You will have to admit, a dog covered in poop gets all the dogs' immediate attention.

| YT 500 Club Member | I have a new pup that's 12 weeks old. Ever since I got her she does the same thing, yeah, its pretty gross. She eats it right when she's done going.! I have to beat her to it to clean it up first. Haven't tried pineapple yet, so we'll see. |

| I wondered if some dogs might want to pass on the pineapple. Maybe crushed pineapple would work if you mix it in with some type of teat they like. |

| Yorkie Yakker | Bailee loves pineapple and I give her 1 chunk a day. At first I tried two and it upset her stomach( she threw it up)....but with one she's fine and it seems to work.... She's 6 mths and 3.5 lbs. I also use the leave it command and give her a cherrio, her favorite. |

| ugh Geno has been eating poop for months. He also likes to pretend it's a toy and flings it around. I've gotten hit on the head with it before. Pineappple doesn't seem to work with him. Our breeder said to put hot sauce on his poo to get him to associate bad taste with it. Only problem is that Geno poos in private or at least makes sure to. He refuses to go if I'm watching him. Then right after he goes in private, he picks it up, runs to me, growls cause he wants to make sure I see him, and then will bark at us until we try and chase him to give it up. I do use "leave it" but he'll just run under the bed and eat it up. If he doesn't go under the bed, "leave it" does work and I try enticing him with something else. I think I might try getting him some of that stuff to sprinkle on his food.

| This must be a breed thing. I caught Khloe playing with her poop yesterday. I am so hurt. I tried pineapple but I don't think it helped. I will try bananas next. My baby is a kisser but how can I let her kiss me now. Why do they do this? Help me please! My bichon never touched poop and cant stand it near her thats how I was able to crate train her so well. |
