| Rest and Play How does your 5 month old spend their day?My Presley plays most of the time.I don,t leave him much ,but if I do,what does he do with all that energy?Im,a afraid to leave him because he would have to be penned up.Also he seems to have dropped back in his toilet training.I have to watch him like hawk again, because he will pee anywhere, where he was getting so good using pad or garden.Help appreciated, |

| well at this age or just after cedric started marking...until he got neutered. i got a belly band which he hated but it helped to keep him from marking when i couldnt keep an eye on him at all times. i didnt neuter him until 9 months.

| I don't have a male so they may very well be different than my girls. At five months I remember still having to watch my girls and like a hawk too! I think consistency and praise, praise, praise is the key with housebreaking them. I found they did really well for awhile and then regressed the odd time which I think is pretty well normal with puppies. Eventually though they were all really great so the consistency paid off for sure. If I go out for a short time I will put them in their kennels. If I have to leave them for three or more hours then I put them in a tiled room with their pee pads and the x-pen, water, beds and toys. This has worked well for me. |

| My girls are 5 months old too. They play most of the time but I still put them into their crate for a sleep late morning so they don't get over tired. They too have regressed a bit with the toilet training but that's not unusual. Keeping things consistent should bring this back in time. When I leave them for a time I make sure thru have had a good energetic playtime first and put them in the crate with water. They usually just go to sleep until I return. I leave a few toys to amuse them incase they wake before I'm back. They can hold the toilet overnight so no reason why they should need before I return. Works well for us.

| When Gracie was that age we still had some kittens left from a litter we took in. She was busy all the time making sure those kittens were behaving as she thought they should. She had such a good time with them and it certainly kept her busy. At 5 months they do still need to be kept in just one room and under supervision all the time. It's so easy for them to get distracted and forget. They are still just babies at that stage. I kept Gracie with me no matter what room I was in and if I was not able to take her out I would keep a pee pad near by. Once she was older I was able to cut down the number of pee pad sites I had but that was a slow process. |
