Dogs, being carnivores have no digestive enzymes in their saliva like an omnivore does so for them digestion does not and can not begin in the mouth. When our dogs are fed a cooked diet or diet with grains and vegetables in it, the pancreas gets over stimulated and overworked and in turn becomes inflamed. The inflammation itself can activate the digestive enzymes before they’re released in the intestines which can result in triggering the process of “self digestion”. The enzymes from the inflamed pancreas can also leak out in the abdominal cavity and damage the abdominal lining and other organs which only serves to add to a serious and often life-threatening situation.

I'm so glad to see that Peanut is on the mend and does not have pancreatitis

My DH is always trying to slip my girls bad things too, until I remind him of how expensive the ER vet is So I ask him, is it really worth a minimum of $700 just to give them food that might make them sick? He thought it was okay to let Luna lick his lamb chop bone I caught him, scolded him, and watch his butt like a hawk. If it was up to him, they'd be eating steak and ice cream every day

Since Peanut doesn't like veggies, maybe he'd like something like plain Cheerios?

I think we need to have boot camp training for our Dh’s! I will definitely be watching DH like a hawk! I think you are right about the steak and ice cream!! I know the DH’s mean well, but they are def not Mommy material!

I don’t think I tried the plain Cheerios… I know I have gave him Honey Nut- Those probably aren’t the best for him- As for right now I am just going to give him his Acana, and a couple of his Buddy Biscuit treats- I am also going to work with him, while we are eating he needs to be laying in his bed like a gentleman, not begging for food!

Haha...thanks! That's my Cookie. She is very cooperative about picture taking. I have a friend who is a photographer and she took that one...she has quite a few pics of my pups that she lists for sale on Istock.

I should ask her if I can use it (technically it is her image) and make cards with it so YHR can sell them! I have done that with some of the other pics she has taken of my pups. I don't think it is easy to submit to card companies.

Oh..and thank you. She is a love. She is a mix...I did a DNA test because I was just so curious. She is a yorkie/border terrier mix.

Tripe makes me sick enough without thinking about green tripe. A friend of mine's mother used to cook it (not the green, I don't think)...I gave her a polite "no thank you" and stuck with her pasta.

Oh that would be a good idea- Has YHR ever sold cards before? Oh wow , I see the Yorkie in her I would have never guessed Border Terrier! What a cute little combo she is!
