| And people wonder why the "aggressive" known dogs are that way. There are other ways to take care of things. I would have told the receptionist that I was going outside call me when the drs ready. Luckly I've not ran into that. When I took my cattle dog for her annual after she lost her sight, she would sit and bark in the office. It didn't matter how much I got onto her verbally she ignored me. I understood why she was doing tho. So we waited outside. She was more comfortable that way. I think some big dogs don't like the confining space in the waiting rooms. |

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I don't believe in ever hitting, smacking, tapping the nose, spanking or anything in that realm. If I saw that happening, it would bother to me to no end....if I was at the Vet's, I'd try to have a private comvo w/ someone of authority and I'd ask if they could mention something to the owner. If I saw it at a Pet Store like PetCo or PetSmart - I'd immediately ask for the manager on duty and ask what their policy is when this happens in the store, and I'd ask they find the owner and say something.

| Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I have bad anxiety too but if I saw something that bothered me enough, especially if it were animal abuse, you bet your ass I would have said something to the owner of that dog. Bad anxiety or not, if you were concerned enough for the dog you could have said something to the vet or receptionist...

| Honestly, I don't know what you could have done. We all have different personalities. Personally, I would have stared with a horrified expression on my face at the puppy owner. I would NOT hide my shock and horror. If the puppy owner had words for me, I would reply with,"Sorry, you really shocked me." Most likely, I would mention something to the vet and staff. Poor puppy. Yes, puppies can be rambunctious, as children can be. But there are ways to calm down a puppy without abuse. Just my opinion. |

| Wouldn't it be nice if legislation passed a law requiring all new dog owners, regardless of breed, to take a class addressing basic care and housebreaking, veterinary care, and positive reinforcement training PRIOR to owning a dog? I mean, the US Government wastes money or other worthless programs. Why not do something worthwhile?

| If it bothered you that much you should have confronted them- Or if anxiety is the issue you could have told the Vet or Tech behind closed doors so you wouldn't have to confront them. What is the point asking "what you should have done" after the fact??

| Part of my anxiety is I rehearse things like even if I am going to say something normal to my grandma I sometimes have to plan it out and say it a few times to myself so I guess I think if I know what to do next time I could rehearse it over and over again and maybe be able to say something next time.
