| If this were my pup, he would be going to the vet ASAP. Normally when they want to be alone they just hide they Do Not hide & cry & you say he gets lifeless ? I would be very concerned about that as well. Maybe he's having seizures ? |

| Me too! He doesn't do it if we aren't there. I set up a camera to watch him during the day and he doesn't do much, just sleeps, jumps around form couch to couch, stands in front of the air conditioner for a minute, that's about it lol

| I love that you have a camera set up. It's like Geno has his own TV show!!! Geno has the life . It's good that he doesn't do it when you're gone, maybe it's just a weird quirk that he developed. Brody has a couple of weird quirks... he loves to bark at the air, or the "ghosts" as I call it. It makes him sound a BIT less crazy and when he chases Sophia, he makes the LOUDEST gruntiest noises ever! Maybe this is just one of those qualities that makes Geno, Geno!

| Courtney, I am just seeing your thread now. I pray Geno is okay and that this is just some quirky behavior. Does he do this at certain times during the day, or does he do it close to the time he has potty? Teddy often wants to be held or sit on our laps before he goes to do "big business."

| He may be having gas or other G-I, even serious intermittent pain or unknown symptoms such as neurological or others & when it strikes, he goes where he feels safe & gets himself through it. I would definitely have vetted him after a couple episodes of this as possible physical cause is what you have to suspect & worry about first & foremost. Perhaps he's got behavior issues but first check with the vet. If they can't find anything, I would chart his meals, water, treat intake, including chewies, etc., and all his other activities to see if you can form a pattern of this happening within a certain time period of something he eats or does. If there is nothing on x-ray, scans & lab work, you can begin to look into particular sounds or things that are going on in or out of the house when he does this. Does a certain smell of someone opening the fridge, the TV, or starting a car or playing basketball next door or cars coming down the street seem to bring it on? Journal his life for a week or so & try to see if some association taking place in his world is what is causing these possible panic- or fear-related incidents. Finally, if it is behavior related, I would block his access to the area under the couch and treat his whining/crying incidents with whatever treatment method of your choice for fear-based reactions. You can Search out many threads here or Google the subject & read all you can on how to deal with this type of reaction. But first, a vet consult is necessary. I sure hope you can get to the bottom of this as he sounds miserable. I pray he's over this as quickly as possible & you have your healthy, happy baby back very soon.

He also likes to crawl under my dresser when I'm getting ready for work in the morning but he doesn't whine. He occasionally will crawl under the dresser as well when I dry my hair but I don't blame him. lol

| I can't rememer if it has already been mentioned but video his episodes for the vet if you can. Poor sweet baby - hope the vet can find an easy solution to his problems quickly!

| So I talked to the breeder this morning - she works at our vets office so I felt comfortable getting her thoughts on it before I brought him in. She said to block him off from getting under the couch which I'm going to do tonight. She says to see how he reacts when you close off the couch and if anything, video him so she can see. She said to give her a call in a day or two to update her on it. She mentioned seizuring and obviously we were hoping it isn't that. She said it probably isn't hypoglycemia cause he's a little too old for that and is eating/drinking/peeing/pooping normally. So we're gonna keep a close eye on it for a day or two. Obviously if anything changes, i'll be bringing him in immediately. Thanks for all your input. It helped a lot when answering her questions earlier cause she brought up the same things - seizures, toy under couch, ect.

| Glad you are going to get to the bottom of it. I know the poor little guy will appreciate some help whatever is causing it - it is distressing him. Hope is works out to be something fairly easy to treat or fix.

| So first night I blocked off the couches, he was mad. Then he went under the one end table and cried for a minute or two an then started running from one side of the couch to the other trying to find a way under but couldn't. It got to the point where I just got out of the living room and blocked it off so he couldn't go back in. I've been doing this for the past few days and he seems to be ok about it. When we do go in the living room, he does go between the couch and the end table and lays down. When he does that I leave the room cause he just ends up following me. I'm gonna keep a closer eye on it still but it just is looking to be behavioral at this point.
