| A horrible topic...but a critical question!! Hiii! My wee yorkie Riley is now 6 months old, and ever since we got him he's had this problem- After he does a number two, 70% of the time there will be a remainder of faeces stuck to the fur on his bum. We got him trimmed last month and the problem went away for about a week, but it came back again and he continues to get faeces stuck there! Is this a popular thing that happens amongst yorkies? And does anyone have any solutions? Thanks xx [Enclosed is also a cute snap of Riley ]

| I keep the area around Corky's bottom trimmed and cut. I trim back there after his weekly baths. Also, we use doggie wipes to wipe after he has been walked. |

| This can be a problem with any breed with long hair. Keep it trimmed shorter & maybe out farther, in other words a bigger area. |

| Can I ask what you use to trim? Sometimes i gave his bottom half a wee bath (in between his full body baths) and wash his bum...but he HATES it...he squirms and yelp when i go near his bum!

| I don't know how common this is, but I just want to say Riley is such a cutie!

| Riley is adorable! I carefully trim my boys about once a week. Max has no problems, but Teddy is a bit of a nervous squatter in some situations and often has to have his rear end washed (my guys are in full coat). If it is just a little, you can use a wet wipe to clean up Riley.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | sounds like you need more frequent trimming for his sanitary area. also is he backing his butt up into any structure when he poo's? That could cause a little of the "brown" stuff to stick onto him.

| That's odd... My Khloe was having problems with this recently, so I gave her a short trim on her bum along with shaving her body. She doesn't seem to have any problems when she's trimmed. My male however, can have really long hair back there and not have any problems. How short did you trim Riley?

| I have snipped with regular round point small blade scissors after a bath, and used an electric finishing trimmer when they are dry. If you can watch when he goes you might be able to get a visual on how much snipping needs to be done and then trim the area...and maybe a touch more. You can trim from just above the 'target' straight down the back to the 'extras' if he still has those...lol It will depend on how much hair he has that is 'in the way' and his 'position'...and sometimes the wind will blow, and...

| Our groomer keeps the boys hair short on their behinds, but we still do bum checks after every poo. It's kinda funny (and weird to our friends lol), but after one of them poo's, they run in the bathroom and wait for us to check their bum with baby wipes. It's not often that there is anything there, but if there is, it's easier taken care of right away (and Calvin acts so funny if he has some stuck). If someone has an upset stomach and there is alot, then it's bum bath time |

| I do too, but...BlondieTiger, I think this would be very dangerous if your little guy doesn't like you working back there. It is very easy to severely injure your boy. One of the professional groomers here on YT wrote about a pet that died after being accidentally cut in the back end. I think clippers, like a mustache trimmer would be safer. Maybe someone could recommend how to sterilize it afterward.

| Ahi occasionally has poop stuck back there and it's booty washing time. I try to trim her. If I don't catch her going poop and she gets some on there she will come to me and face her booty to me. If I ignore her she will bump my leg with her back flank and look at me like "wash my butt mom!" LOL yeah..she acts all weird like that.
