| My first Yorkie.......I got him! So, I collected Ellington today! That wasn't his original name, but it is from now on! So, Ellington is apparently about 5, and he sadly had his older lady owner pass away. He then went to another lady for this past week, but her Shih Tsus didn't like him very much. So he has had a bumpy last week or so. I went on a three hour journey to collect him, so he has had quite a journey. We had a two hour journey, and then an hour on the London Underground. He was so good. He doesn't yap, he likes strangers and children. Even when a little dog went for him he was ok. He did whimper a little at times, but I think its only when he needs the toilet. On the way home we went to the vet. He weighs 6kg, which she said was a nice lean weight. He doesn't have fleas, and his eyes are ok (they looked a bit gloopy to me). He will need to be put under to have his teeth cleaned, and some removed, so I will have to start saving up for that. We're finally home....exhausted! Ellington is now asleep next to me. I've only ever had cats before, so it will be a learning curve for both of us! I think he looks pretty full Yorkie....what do you lot think? |

| Another pic. He is already snuggling into me to try and sleep so thats a good sign right?! He only came with a collar and lead, but I had brought a harness with me, so changed him at train station. |

| So happy for you, sounds like a well adjusted little trooper. Glad he found a home with you and you found us to help you with any questions you may have. I'ts hard to tell since I can't see his face much, but I do think from his markings and what I can see he does look like a full yorkie. Congrats to you and Ellington

| Thank you all for the welcome! I have been reading loads of YT in the last couple of days, so I definitely have a head start, and I'll be asking loads more questions! At the moment, I'm just happy that he can cope with strangers (I want to take him to work so will be getting lots of attention!), and that he is pretty healthy. He seems relaxed around me which is nice too. When we were walking today I already started trying to get him to stop pulling so much, and he even improved by the time we got home. Hopefully we'll settle in together over the next couple of weeks and he'll be my new buddy! |

| Congratulations! Ellington is adorable, and looks all yorkie to me. It's great that you will be able to take him to work. Yorkies love being with their people, so that will be great for him.

| Aw well done you for taking on the unknown. He is in the unknown too just now and probably trying to make sense of where his world has gone. Try and give him time to adjust to you and his new home before having lots of new people fussing over him. If his owner was an old lady he probably lead a quiet life. Did you get the food hes used to cause that can sometimes be a bit of a problem for a dog if it changes too quickly. Enjoy him they are great companions.

| The woman who has had him for a week said she fed him Winalot, so I got some of that, but I have no clue if he had that before. I want him on dry food, so will wean him off the wet over the next couple of weeks. |

| Congrats, he's adorable! And I love the name. I've had several rescues, and the best advice I can think to give is, start the routine that you want now, and stick to it. Routine is the thing most missing in a rescues life when they've had such a quick change as Ellington's had. And be patient with him when he gets clingy. That nearly always happens after they've had a little time to settle in and start to bond with you. They seem to get a little anxious, like they're worried you are going to leave them too. Good luck and don't hesitate to come here with questions.

| I think you've fallen in love. It only takes about 5 minutes to do that with a yorkie! He is precious and I know you and Ellington will have a wonderful bond and life together. |
