1. Something to snuggle in( our first boys blanket is the thing he loves the most to this day...walmart blanket). 2. A delicious dog food of course. Dogs, like people have different tastes..we use royal canin yorkshire terrier. 3. A place to call their own...crate, play pen, etc. For those times when they just need their space. 4. Something to chew on. We all seem to prefer american made bully sticks. 5. Something to play with. Trial and error here, as no one toy works for every yorkie. 6. Something to tear up. again, trial and error here. 7. A couple of brushes and a good detangler spray. Appearance is everything, and yorkies just seem to love to look good at all times. 8. Love... 9. Attention... 10. At least one person he/she can devote their entire life to! in no particular order Last edited by bodisat; 04-29-2012 at 12:47 PM.

We dont have lots of money, but our boys are pretty happy...i think. what you do need is enough money to take care of them in an emergency. I might be off here, but we like to have at least 1000.00 set aside for an emergency situation. We have pet insurance, about 30 bucks per month per dog( petplan). I dont want to discourage someone from getting a dog, but you really have to plan just as you would for a child. We dont have a great deal of money and we have two yorkies, but we are sure that in the event of an emergency they will be well taken care of. The small sacrifices are worth it to us. It all depends on where your priorities lie at the time. something to think about. Lots of money is not required...but enough to take care of your hairy children is. Love, food and water are the most important stuff. Just make sure you plan ahead for the unforeseen. Thats what parents do. We love our boys, and they come first. If they could make it on their own, we might do things differently, but we know they cannot. After all, it was our choice to take them in, so its our responsibility to take care of them. We enjoy every moment! They take care of us most of the time...

If I had to I would remortgage my house to car for a sick family member aka pet. That goes without saying. So does unlimited love? My pets are part of my family...not negotiable or disposable.
