The vet said she would always produce bladder stones, and would need surgeries for the rest of her life to remove them. Also on her Ultrasound, two vets identified kidney stones. I doubled her dose of coconut oil immediately. No kidney issues were found during her LS surgery, and it's been a year now since then and she has yet to show any signs of having bladder stones.

Is this all the result of the coconut oil? I have no idea. But I will never stop giving it to them.

That is AWESOME!!!! WOOWHOOO! Actually, this is why I started taking it myself, I read it was supposed to disolve kidney stones and I've had surgeries for them before and had to have stints put in, NOT a fun time AT ALL, and yes, I'd really rather give birth, lol. The nurse at the hospital asked me what I wanted to name my kidney stone when I passed another cause it was so big, bigger than a piece of large dog food for large breed dogs! So, if coconut oil can disolve these suckers, I'm ALLLLL for it!! How much and how often do you give it to yours? What's their weight and age?

I got mine at Ritzman pharmacy, it's made by "Now" and it's organic virgin coconut oil, cold pressed, not refined. It's a 14 ounce jar and I paid $8.99 for it plus tax.

Coconut oil has been given a huge, undeserved, bad rap...and I'll stop there. lol I eat it, cook with it, recommend it...and feed it to my animals as well as use it topically on all of us. Brody and Mia absolutely love it!!!

Any virgin coconut oil that is not made from copra will do...it also must not be hydrogenated. You can buy it almost anywhere these days...check your supermarket shelves. Store the coconut oil out of sunlight, but you can store it out of refrigeration. It solidifies at 75 degrees...melts at 76 and is safe for frying, believe it or not...just don't allow it to smoke and if it does, pitch it out and start over. Potatoes, chicken, etc. fried in coconut oil are excellent! Try making coconut shrimp in coconut oil! Put it over rice with coconut and chopped pecans added! Yummmm!!! For extra goodness, use black ("forbidden") rice. Wow!!! (Note: Do not use the sweetened 'angel flaked' coconut, though...get the real stuff from the freezer section of an oriental market or natural foods market, or get the dried coconut meat...try an Indian (India) and reconstitute it in coconut milk). Coconut oil is rich in lauric acid, superceeded only by 'mother's milk'...which is why it used to be a key ingredient in infant formulas long ago when everyone made their own...lol...and is absolutely excellent for such a long list of stuff that I won't bother to include them because a search will find the info, too. Plus, it tastes good! lol I love it on organic popcorn!

To my knowledge, you cannot hurt them with coconut oil. I let their bodies decide how much they need. They'll quit eating it when they're full...or done with it. I put tiny chunks of the oil straight from the fridge in small bowls and let them decide when they are done. Then I put the rest away until the next time, etc.

I have read good things about coconut oil but have never used it. Where do you buy yours and do any of your dogs NOT like it? I have the pickiest of all dogs as far as what she will consume and have to disguise the supplement that I am presently giving her in raw meat.

We have a Boxer too She's amazing! Do you mix any in their food? I just ordered some coconut oil from Amazon it's called Nature's Way. I read everyone's comments and got organic virgin coconut oil, cold pressed and not refined too. I am so excited and can't wait to try it on Georgie and Coco

Tinkerbell, 5 years old ,weighs 14 pounds, she gets 1.5 teaspoons twice daily mixed in with her food.

Peek A Boo, 15.5 yo, weighs 7 pounds and gets 3/4 + teaspoons twice daily, mixed in with his food.

Sapphire, 5 yo, is 8 pounds and gets a teaspoon in her food twice a day.

Finny, 4 yo, weighs about 12 pounds and gets 1.5 teaspoons in with her food twice a day.

At one point I gave Peek A Boo more, but his skin got oily so I cut his dose back some till his skin no longer felt oily.

I warm their food a bit and the coconut oil melts into it.

Coconut oil is a medium chain fatty acid... most other oils are long chain fatty acids, so the body digests them differently. Coconut oil will not cause pancreatitis, it actually helps the pancreas and can help level out blood glucose levels. Peek a Boo had two bouts of pancreatitis when he was 6 years old.... none since.

I started mine on a 1/4 teaspoon twice a day and built up from there. It allowed them to get used to the taste... now they won't eat their food without it.
