| Seeing the whites of their eyes? It seems like I spend all of my spare time on the internet reading this forum and looking at pictures of yorkies and yorkie puppies (both here at YT and just on the internet). I have noticed some yorkies that I can see a small part of the white of just one eye. The yorkie seems to be looking directly at the camera so I don't think it is because they are looking to the side. It is only in one eye and not in both. I am just curious what this means. Is it a genetic flaw? Just wondering, of course they are adorable anyway but I am trying to learn as much as I can about yorkies. Any thoughts you might have are appreciated.

Max Main's Mamma Donating YT Member | I never noticed. I am going to look for it now though. I doubt it is a genetic flaw. There's nothing wrong with a Yorkie!!! LOL

| When looking straight on you should see no white. When they look to the side, up, or down, you will see white. Because their pupil isn't as visible in the dark brown eye, you can't readily see which way they are actually looking, many times. I don't know about others, but I have a hard time getting a full on face shot....this is a rare one where ZoE is actually looking right at the camera.

| I agree simply perfect. I also agree there is no genetic flaws in a Yorkie however, I am quite bias

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've seen some websites where you can see lots of white and this can be an indication of hydrocephalus or water on the brain, it can come from breeding for tinies. Some breeders will stoop to low measures, in hopes that their offspring will be smaller than normal, and this can mean that they withhold proper nourishment from pregnant mothers. Unfortunately, this does not necessary make offspring smaller as adults, but it does cause many other physical problems. Another reason the white can show, is the topknot is too tight; some breeders put the topknot tight so that the ears will look closer together. This too is bad for it can cause the skin to die and a bald spot appear. Also, some websites photoship a lot, to make their dogs look more desirable.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've done it too, I must confess! I usually loosen the front with a comb, but one time was in a hurry and my guests asked me why my dog looked so surprised, wanted to know if he got Botox!
