When looking straight on you should see no white. When they look to the side, up, or down, you will see white. Because their pupil isn't as visible in the dark brown eye, you can't readily see which way they are actually looking, many times.

I don't know about others, but I have a hard time getting a full on face shot....this is a rare one where ZoE is actually looking right at the camera.
