| affection Hi Guys, Been a long time since I have been on here. But would like a question answered please. My baby just turned one and I love her to pieces, but the only thing is she isn't very affectionate. I try to cuddle with her and she just wants to play all the time. Is this because she hasn't been spayed yet. I have heard boys are more affectionate than girls. Is this true? Just want to cuddle with my baby. Help! |

| Hi and welcome back. Georgie is affectionate when he wants to be. He has become more affectionate as he has gotten older. She is still a puppy so she may grow to be more affectionate.

Chicco (RIP) was always on our laps or by our feet, and Milo is now the same..infact,when weŽre on the couch,he sits on our lap, chest or right up by our neck. Bella is content to sleep by herself in her bed or just next to us on the couch, sheŽs not very "touchy feely" and she doesnt really give kisses either, sheŽd much rather play and then retire to her own space to rest by herself.Jess (RIP) was the same. I dont know if the gender has anything to do with it,but in my case,my boys have always been lovers

| My girl is very affectionate. I think she still has a lot of energy from being so young. I don't know that spaying would help or not but I definitely would spay her.

| All Yorkies have different personalities. Some are more independent where others are clingy. They'll all let you know when they need some lovin'! |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | My girl Ruby was the same way at that age. Affectionate, but on her terms! She outgrew it with a little encouragement from Me (I had to force her to stay in my arms)... Now she's my little cuddle buddy, she begs for my attention and to let up on the chair with me. Give your boy time, he'll come around. Just continue to cuddle with him, maybe after he's worn out from play time.

| I don't think it's due to the sex of the dog...I think it's the dog individually. Mine are both 2 years old now, and very similar, but with noticeable differences. Brody is very affectionate, does lots of little Brody kisses, loves to lap sit, loves to be brushed and/or combed, but will go off by himself now and then to take a nap in a quiet space or sit in a sunbeam...but he never left my side until a couple months ago...he was 14 months old when I got him in May 2011. Brody likes to play with Mia and other dogs, but seems to prefer to play with me...at least at times, and he LOVES, LOVES, LOVES toys! Brody is a little comedian and likes to tease you, too. Mia will drown you with kisses, jumps up and down with excitement of seeing you again...in the last 5 minutes, will let you brush/comb until your time is up, and has rarely left my side since I got her in Aug. 2011...she was 17 months old at the time. She's somewhere on, beside, behind me at all times. She will "stay" until she's sure I am going somewhere...like the kitchen for a cup of water for them...then runs to catch up. Mia is very playful and energetic, likes toys, likes to play with me, LOVES to play rough with Brody (and other dogs and cats), knocking him down and bowling him over, she runs circles around him and he's quick and agile. Mia's not as toy-centric as Brody by a long shot. but she'll take a toy she knows he'll want and taunt him, or 'defense' against him getting up on the love seat or bed with me. Both love to be carried, and go ride...anywhere. Both snuggle in bed and move to 'slightly alone' spaces as well. Both want to go wherever I go, although Brody sometimes insists I carry him...and he directs me around the yard until he finds the space he wants to be set down on. Your baby is still quite young. I am sure things will change more than once.

| Are you with your pet all day or is it crated while you are gone? If you spend time with the dog teaching her things and giving her lots of exercise she is more likely to want to settle down and snuggle at bed time. A dog that has not had much interaction through out the day has a lot of pent up energy that it needs to burn off. Try taking your little girl out for a long brisk walk and playing fetch with her for a while. If she has had a good deal of physical and mental exercise she will be more than willing to snuggle with you later in the day. These little dogs can have a high energy level that needs to be dealt with. |

| thank you Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and thoughts on my question. Yes I spend lots of time with my darlin, we are retired and she is the apple of our eye. We also walk everyday and go for rides on the golf cart which she loves. Sees all the squirrels and goes crazy for them. I guess I'll just have to wait and maybe she will be more affectionate with my coaxing. Thanks, Sally |

♥Trained by my pups♥ Donating YT 500 Club Member | Riley has always been a cuddlier. Lily not so much. But she is now two and is starting to get very much more cuddly. So give it some time. My Lexi was a cuddlier from day one. So I do not think it is a boy girl thing.

| My male is far more affectionate than my female. He always has been, but I have noticed as Khloe has aged... She wants to cuddle more. She is now a little over two and will occasionally want to sit on my chest and cuddle. I think it's just a personality thing... Everyone is different

| My little male Tibbe is affectionate when he wants to be but if I call him up to cuddle, he will suffer me kindly and escape as quickly as possible until he wants to cuddle.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Some like to cuddle, and some don't. Roxy was spayed at 7 mo. Her desire to cuddle is about the same after as before. Now 3, she cuddles a little more. Well, not sure ya can call it cuddling. She comes to me for her well-deserved back rubs & massages. When she's had enough, she's gone. You see... life is all about her and her desires at the moment. LOL! She's too independant to get into the cuddling scene much. It's kinda disappointing to me, but I get such a kick out of her personality, so I've pretty much gotten over it and accept her as she is. The closest she comes to cuddling is she likes to sleep laying right up against us. It is, of course, our duty & obligation to never move and disturb her. She is free to change position, twist, turn, etc whenever she wants. If I move, she goes and lays up against DH. If he moves, she comes back to me. If both of us moves too much, she will go to her bed. Every time she changes where she's sleeping, she always gives a big sigh before moving. Cracks me up. She just gets so disgusted with us for disturbing her royal highness. lol!
