You might even have been seeing some wicking...depending on how deeply saturated the spot was.

| We use odo ban. I get it at SAMs. No spots or stains. I use the black light about once a month just to check and haven't had any spots return that I know of....

| I also read that never use heat when cleaning urine stains. I had a cat pee on a bed once I searched the internet and found a site that said use lyserine. It has the enzymes to "eat" the protein in the urine. It worked

| There are things other than pee that show up under black light...if you guys are having that much show up, it makes me wonder if the Nature's Miracle itself might be showing up under black light. Is there a pee-free place you can test by spraying with the cleaner, and then look at that spot with the black light? I remember on some CSI type show they said carrot juice shows up under black light, for example. |

| Does the landlord use a blacklight to determine if you pay for new carpet? It sounds like you can't see or smell the stains without the blacklight. As far as I'm concerned it is "clean" if you can't see or smell it. I suppose there could just be permanent chemical residue, it's not like the actual bodily fluid is sitting there waiting to get all over unsuspecting visitors.... |

I talked my way out of it, thank gosh. Move to the new apartment, Sophia has maybe one or two accidents. Then we get Brody and we're still workign on the house training... safe to say I don't think I'll be able to talk my way out of it this time. So i'm not actually sure how they determine if the carpet is soiled.

| IF they remember they'd pull it up and look at the pad and the backing. I think even water would leave a ring though...It's not too hard to pull up a corner and look. You just have to be able to tuck it back in against the wall. I used a ruler to tuck mine back when I was checking how high the bathroom threshold was before we got wood floor in the hall. If you can't get the underside clean then it might not matter about what the light does or doesn't show. I just doubt they'd use a light. I also doubt they'd bother checking it if it looked and smelled clean. |

| I wonder if they just told you they saw the stains because they know you have dogs. I will also add... the paper pee pads leak!!! I now use hospitable pads that are washable. We just moved and I had all the carpet ripped out and put down wood floors (pergo) and then Bailey Peepeed on the wood floor but it seamed to clean up ok

| Have your carpet professionally steam cleaned. Start fresh, with a deep steam cleaning, I have a Little Green Cleaner (by Bissle) here I LOVE it. I just switched to Germguardian UV-C cleaners too. Ironically we use the UV-C wands in our shoes a lot...

| I think I read one time that even after cleaning the rug the black light still picks up where the spot was. I also heard that steam cleaning somehow seals in the stain. I don't know how true that is but it seems that after all the cleaning the OP has done the carpet should be clean. Having a carpet cleaning machine with good suction is very helpful to pull the urine out of the carpet. Of course it works even better if you get the accident right away. One thing to be sure to watch for is if you have wood under the carpeting. Urine can seep into the wood under the carpet and that is very difficult to fix. Wood is porous and holds the smell. Sometimes the floor boards have to be taken up in order to be rid of the smell. |

| Steam clean doesn't seal in stain, that's chemical cleaning as it leaves residue behind-hot foam cleaners shampooing etc Good point about the under floor boards-especially if the carpet didn't have a waterproof padding with an under-barrier put in it.

| I strongly suggest that you give Eco 88 a try. I have never seen a spot remover like that stuff!
