How do YOU pronounce Biewer??

I never really thought about it being pronouced german even though i knew it was german....though i mispronouce a lot of things.....
so i usually either just say yorkie. or parti yorkie. or german buu*mumble*mumble* yorkie. [I'm not sure if Somi is actually a Biewer or a Parti]
but i think i tried to pronounce it more like viewer with a b. I understand the w being pronounced with a v...but where does the r go? Why isn't it Beevaar?


I get irritated when people add the emphasis wrong in Joli's name...it's based on the Korean word for sleepy but people like to try to pronounce it like Jolie which is French.
And i'm pretty sure most people don't know what I say when I say Somi. I think a lot of people think her name is sony. (Also Korean based, for cotton ball/little beauty, depending on where you break up the syllables.)
So I can't even imagine actual complicated names. My name is super easy and people get that wrong. And my BF has to spell Choi everytime someone needs it. Like really? you can't spell Choi? lol.

we have a friend who's name is pronounced "foo-key"

it is spelled however Fuki.

I was never sure how to pronounce it and never had much occasion to because I've never seen one around here.

But I THOUGHT it would be like this ~ "Bee War'.

My Biewer IS a Diva! And, I too, just explain she is a type of yorkie from Germany.

Before joining YT last year, I never knew of them and seeing the word, would have thought it pronounced "Bee were" or if German, perhaps "Bee ver". My sound isn't loud enough to tell what the woman keeps saying over & over - is it "Biva" - sounds like that but I just can't make that vid sound any louder. She sure says it a lot, whatever she is saying.

She is saying "Biva like Diva" along with something that sounds like "Bi- Viar" sometimes as well

I have no problem with someone not understanding 'how' to say a name...but if it's a name you are likely to use with any frequency, I think it is polite and thoughtful to try to get close on the pronunciation. Some people, due to their heritage...where they were raised, their native language, etc., have a difficult time wrapping their tongues around the sounds made by letters in foreign (to them) languages. I am no exception...lol! I did learn, though, if I don't think I can say it, I just ask..."How do you say your name?" Most people are not insulted and will just say it for you. I always took it to another level, inquiring where the name originates...partly because I am really curous that way.

I do try with names..most people are ok if you try.

I mispronounce things almost as often as you do but your name just looks like it sounds to me. In other words, its pretty phonetic. Maybe it's a case of people not being bothered to try????

I have the same problem with my married name. People always pronounce the "e" EA and drop the "g" which makes a whole different word

I think people try to make names or words fit into what they know. It is what we do lol

I CANNOT roll my R's. No matter how often I try to speak the little spanish I know. Just can't do it.

Japanese people have a really difficult time with R's also. It' comes out like an L. Like they cannot say refrigerator.

LoL! I've no idea how some people might pronounce that-even though we heard it and almost tinkled in our pants over an older lady (like 70+) saying it wrong! I think they might say the first part and then make the I a separate syllibol and pronounce it as an eeee
