| How do YOU pronounce Biewer?? I just had to resurrect this subject (and video)for a couple of reasons http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ion-video.html First off ~ it makes me And second, I have had this discussion with a few YT members in the last couple of weeks. I have to admit, in my head, when I see the written word, I say beeYOUwere even though I know how it is pronounced. It just sounds silly to me Out loud, I'm probably 60/40 (the 60 being BEE Vair or Biva) even though most times I get a look and have to explain How do YOU pronounce Biewer both in your head and out loud??

| When we first got Bogie, when people would ask what breed he was I was pronouncing it "beaver" I found out from that same video you just linked the correct pronunciation and I now say Biva..and people still look at me like I am crazy I just end up telling them he is a variation of a yorkie and he is from Germany..lol ps..in my head I still say beaver

| I never had trouble pronouncing the word...and didn't know there was a discrepancy over the pronunciation...but I lived in FRG (West Germany) years ago. I lived in Vogelweh (pronounced fo-gel-vay...long "o" sound...hard "g" as in "gelding"...not hair "gel"...and long "a" as in "say")...and I heard the language spoken a lot. How funny, though, to see expressions when you tell people your gorgeous looks-like-a-dog is a (dam building) "beaver"...

| I pronounce it Biva like diva. I used to call it Bivar, but the breeder of my Biewer pronounced it Biva, and that sounds less like a beaver, so I went with that. But in the video, the lady pronounces it bevair, bivar, and biva! I still can't tell whether it is her accent changing the pronunciation or if she intends there to be an 'r' in the word. And like someone else said, I usually end up telling people she is a German Yorkie. |

Max Main's Mamma Donating YT Member | That is too funny! I never knew that it was pronounced "Biva". In the south it definitely would sound like Beeeaaver.

My furkids Donating Member | I was thinking about adopting a biewer a couple of years ago..When I told my vet I couldn't bring myself to tell her I was thinking about adopting a beaver!! I kept calling him a bi er!! LOL! They are GORGEOUS dogs but, people would look at me like I had 3 heads when I would talk about him! LOL...this was NOT the reason the adopting didn't happen..
