i hope you mention that when recomending AKC so highly. I am very upset with the new that they are allowing in their ranks now.
I know they were accepting some new practices but gezzz. it hurts me to say that some people that are Not breeders in this board know MORE than some AKC so call yorkie and silky breeders..

Hope I haven't added to your upset, and I agree that a person should not buy a dog based on a registry alone! I think people should be aware that the AKC is just a registry, but it's the only reputable registry, and yes, bad breeders as well as puppy mill breeders use it. However, many bad breeders and puppy mill breeders have been thrown out of the AKC, usually for their records being incorrect, and millers have been thrown out because they have broken state laws regarding kennel conditions, and the AKC can oust them if they break State laws. So let's not give them any "excuses” on how they can continue to mislead the public.
