Yes she absolutely came with breeding rights! Even before we met with the "breeder" BIL said that some breeders don't allow you to breed the dog and will with hold the papers until the dog is altered. I said WHAT?! My freaking dog, my freaking choice! Yup, I said that. Now I know better, but I know why people would think that. But I didn't know that only good breeders do this to protect their dogs and line.

So we asked the "breeder" did she not allow breeding of her dogs, and she says no I don't do that, you can do whatever you want. And here we were thinking, Great! If anyone out there doesn't remember, we initially got Uni to breed TO MAKE MONEY SELLING HER PUPPIES. Long legged, big eared, LP grade 2 having light colored, tall freak yorkies that get mistaken for papillons. LOL.

And no I wouldn't have been a good breeder, I bet I would have fainted or barfed at the first sight of anything weird.

I love that it inspired you to do what you do now! Think it all happened for a reason?? You can come visit but only if you bring Uni.

Hi Kayla and Tucker welcome to YT Tucker is a cutie pie. If you are unsure if he is a purebred I would get a DNA test. Check out other threads here with people that have the same questions. You came to a great place with a lot of information.

You have been so harsh... I had no idea you had first hand experience with a questionable breeder. I got my second baby from a show breeder... already neutered... no papers... and about two hours before I was to arrive at their home after already traveling over 500 miles, they contacted me saying it was such a beautiful day, they wanted to meet me in a town about an hour away. We did that, and I never got to see the home. Still makes me wonder. He's a beautiful dog... but I realize that no matter how much research you do, and how on guard you are, you end up accepting the terms in the last few hours before pickup because you've already fallen in love with the dog. No regrets... but a lot of questions.

I just want to remind people that showing doesn't mean anything when it comes to finding a reputable breeder. Some breeders call themselves show breeders and yet have never shown a dog in the lives. Show breeders have been connected to puppy mills as well. If a breeder doesn't want to meet you at her home, something is amiss.

A Reputable Breeder Will….
* Want to know as much about you as you do
about them. They are concerned with the
well-being of their puppies and making sure the
puppy is a good fit for you.
*Will be knowledgeable and open about the pros,
cons and health of the breed. Will discuss spay
and neutering.
*Will not sell a Yorkie puppy prior to 12 weeks of
age, because of problems that may occur with a
younger puppy.
* Will be happy for you to meet the puppy at their
kennel or home. They will not ask to meet you
elsewhere.
* Will not be selling puppies through pet stores, at
auctions or flea markets.
* Will provide a written contract with health
guarantees and detailed records of the puppy’s
health care.
*Will always be available for questions or concerns
as their primary concern is the welfare of the puppy
.

Ok... somehow you have turned 'human' -- not just administrator. It's not easy being a new Yorkie owner... and folks have been pretty quick to jump on newbies that just don't 'get it'. But it sounds like you've been around the block, and I'm going to try to take your advice in stride again... That doesn't mean I will roll over for every criticism... if there weren't any 'newbie' posters, the forum would eventually die of old ideas

Yeah, I was kind of upset when Joey's breeder told me limited registration, I didn't want to breed, but it didn't seem right at first. Then I was happy about it and glad she told me that, it was kind of like an epiphany, she really cared about the breed. I actually think Uni's plenty pretty enough and many show breeders love the long legs. I worry because of her allergies and things like that, I think those traits can be passed on as well.

Ok after repeated attempts to bold what I wanted to respond to, and my dumb mouse being dumb...

What do you mean human turned admin? I'm no admin at all! I'm all human! We all know admins are all robots sitting somewhere in Silicon Valley! That's not me!

Anyway, as much as I don't like the sound of me being around the block, I guess I have as far as yorkies are to be concerned. I really don't want to jump on noobs, but it's noobs that say they did their research and they know what to look out for, but then didn't do what they were warned against that gets me. Like the OP.

We are just looking out for the breed we love.

I'm really tired, and I'm sorry if I offended anyone. I work everyday and apparently it's Thurs and I thought it was Tues. OMG
Dang mouse, I pushed the eek button once and it went three times.

Kyra at 9 weeks had shorter hair and a longer nose as you can see in the first picture but at 21 weeks she now has tons of hair and a shorter nose so its real hard for me to tell by just those two things.

I didn't get a chance to see the parents because the breeder met me half way(he lives 3 hours from me).
So, my question is, what does everyone think? He has the markings of a Yorkie, docked tail, dew claws removed. His nose just gets me! Of course, I will keep my baby either way, I just want to know if I was lied to.
Thanks!

Hi Kayla,

Not sure whether Tucker is purebred or not, but he sure is a Cutie! I just wanted to say Congrats on your new pup and Welcome to YT!!

I brought my previous pup home at 8-weeks old and he lived to a very Healthy 13-years old. I brought my current pup home at about 10 1/2 weeks. Lastly, $400 is an awesome price and I know you are already in Love with him whether he is pure, or not.....

Hi and welcome. I have two yorkie pups. Molly's nose is longer than Lily's. I wouldn't worry too much about taking him at 8 weeks in the UK they took pups away from 6 weeks when I was little. All our dogs when I was growing up we're Round 8 weeks or so when taken from mum especially working dogs. Yyou can teach him everything he needs to know. Make sure he meets lots of other dogs (all fully vaccinated) and yelp if he bites too hard. That's what his mum would do. He looks okay to me from the pics. He's still young and his ears will change as he gets older.have him vet checked soon as possible At the end of the day as long as he is loved fed and cared for he will do just fine and I'm sure you will do this with pleasure. Enjoy your bundle of fun.

Welcome and congrats on little Tucker! He is adorable whether he is pure or not. Like the others have said, if you really want to know, have a DNA test done.

I ended up bringing Jack home at 10 weeks old - at that time, I knew nothing of how to pick out a yorkie or to wait until they are 12 weeks old - I didn't know I shouldn't buy him from a store, etc. I found this site after I was already home with him. That being said, we did and continue to have socialization issues with him. I had been taking him to a yorkie play group and the lady that was running it moved away, so we are back to square one. He was really doing good and making some progress too. We have had him on vacation with us this week and he is doing much better with humans, not so much with other dogs though - I will continue to work on this. He does bite but not hard - we did the whole yelping at him when he was younger to get him to realize that he was biting too hard. It took over a year to get him totally potty trained and every now and then he will still have a small accident... that being said, Jack is the most wonderful, sweetest, loving little guy (though we have to bribe him for kisses) ever.

Again, welcome and good luck.

Well I am going to get the hot water shower in this one but here it goes... I only register my dogs AKC if I am planing on keeping a show one or two. the ooops litter was registered with a lesser registry to save money, all of you seen the conditions that my puppies are welcome in this world and how they live , I can't afford to pay AKC registration specially with a back to back litter that the two i just have, GOOD BREEDERS do not make any money..besides I am very upset with AKC for allowing a showing of a dog that was BRED thru two MERLE parents.
I know I might be the exeception to the rule, but the AKC is becoming a MONEY talk registry in my humble opinion..
to the OP, if you send me a full body shot of your baby and tell me, does he look more longer than tall? does his coat is more sparse than the full fluffy full coat yorkies puppies show?
maybe he is a silky and they are as good as yorkies..
hugs,
