![]() Hi all, What is the best brush to use for hair that gets really piecy looking? Even right after a bath the hair on his head tends to stay in pieces and wavy. His ears get this way too. It looks even worse after about a week and he has some oil to it. His back tends to stay smoother and separated, but I do get to brush it better since he doesn't mind back...thinks brushing head etc is game. The below brush is what I use. It's pin/finisher though I tend to use the finisher side mostly. Thanx! He looks scruffy and dirty when he's not! Petco Pin & Finishing Combo Dog Brush at PETCO

Haha! My yorkie thinks brushing his head is a game too! I read somewhere on here that Chris Christiansen (sp?) brushes are the best so I got Max one (wood with metal pins). It was about 40$ with shipping. His hair gets piecy 30 minutes after brushing. I think its bc he is a youngster and his "big boy coat" has not grown in.

![]() Well, this may have more to do with the products you use when you bathe him than the brush. I have never used the type of brush you are using. I usually use a metal grooming comb and a pin brush. The comb is good for getting rid of tangles and the pin brush is good for fluffing up the coat. What are you using for shampoo and conditioner?

I agree with using a comb after brushing. I sell the #1 All Systems Wood Pin Brush. YT user Mimimomo, Jenny, sells Madan pin brushes and combs. Excellent brushes and easier on the budget than Chris Christensen -- also great brushes.

![]() Gracielove, I use Yorkie Splash/Shine/Sheen. I've been keeping the conditioners off his head for the most part or keeping it minimal. What metal comb do you use? Shelimcallister, he is 6mnths and has been groomed a few times already. He tries to bite at the brush even though I've been doing it since he was little. Cleaning his eyes is a joy too, lol, he tries to bite at the cotton pad I use so I have to be faster than him. i wish they made some sort of daily eye-area wash. I just get a cotton pad moist and usually use my fingers to get any goobers out as he tolerates my hand better. Maximo thanx for the tip on the brushes. I would never had thought that the ball tips would damage hair. What's on the tip of the brushes you all sell?

![]() I was going to suggest that it looks stringy/oily from petting too. Our guys gets like that too when he's getting lots of love. I remember my youngest daughter had the same issue when she was a newborn. She had lovely, long hair that people just couldn't resist touching. Drove me nuts because their greasy hands made her hair look stringy. ![]()

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | ![]() I had a brush from PetSmart and am not crazy about it. I just ordered a Christ Christensen brush for Katie Scarlett. I've heard rave reviews about them. We use Yorkie Splash, Shine, Sheen too.
