Embarassed not wanting to leave puppy

Hi , ever since getting my baby i find i'm not hanging out with my friends on weekends anymore unless my mother watches her, i hate leaving her alone... i also still don't really trust her, shes like a vaccume and i am always pulling something out of her mouth. My grandmother can watch her anytime, but shes older and just had surgery, shes so great with animals but meesha is so squirmy and quick.. she accidently dropped my baby last time i was over there, which made me not want to let her watch her ,and my uncle lives there with her to to take care of her but he's so absent minded i'm scared he'll step on her or accidently let her out the door. But it is great she is offering to watch her for free anytime..i just wish i could let go and trust.. I am an overprtective mommy and i don't know how to let go of this anxiety. I just would never forgive myself if she died while someone was watching her, the only one i trust to watch her is my mother. Was anyone else like this about thier baby, if so how did you get over it?, will i trust her more when shes an adult? I find when i am out with my friends i'm finding myself wanting to just go home and be with her.

My wife and I seem to be just like you.We do not trust anybody with our Gabby. We are afraid of people feeding her human food or something that may be toxic to her, little ones picking her up and squeezing her or even dropping her, letting her outside without leash and the list goes on. When we do go out for a few hours we will talk about her.

My girls are 4 years old and 1 year old. I haven't got over it yet. I hate leaving them and always take them when I can. Welcome to Yorkie Mommahood. Lol. Isn't it great!

My friends know something has to pretty interesting/amazing to get me to spend an evening away from ZoE, after being gone at work all day. I just don't want to do it. But, they know they are welcome to come over anytime, so it's not like I'm totally anti-social

I have bad anxiety and stuff so part of this is probably from that but Callie will be 5 in May and has never been left alone. I live with my grandparents and whenever I have a doctors appointment my grandpa watches Callie for me while my grandma goes with me to the doctor. I always make sure that my grandparents know whats toxic for Callie and if she starts acting weird or off to call me asap. When we go out of town for a graduation or something I cant go to the graduation because of my anxiety so it doesn't bother me to stay at the hotel with Callie. I also will not board her the only time she is left somewhere is at the groomer and that is at my vets office.

Default this is all normal for a new yorkie mommy

I was just the same with my yorkie Ruby, but it is good to leave them with someone else - it builds confidence in them and gets them socialized . Being overprotective is just a normal part of being a new yorkie mom but you will learn to relax as she gets older and will be grateful if someone offers to watch her for you. wishing you lots of fun with your puppy x

Do you have a exercise pen that you can leave her in when you are gone so that you know she is safe and not getting into things? You have to go out sometimes. As she gets older you can train her in proper house behavior but for now she needs a place where she is safe and comfortable when you are gone.

luckily, my husband is absolutely crazy about Miss Waffles, so he watches her whenever i leave and vice versa...and whenever we go somewhere together (which is never for more than around 3 hours), we put her in her puppy pen.

i got the one by Iris on amazon...best investment ever: it's the perfect size for a yorkie -- has enough room for her food bowl, automatic waterer, medium sized puppy pad, a few toys, and her adorable indoor doghouse -- in which i stuffed her entire bed into, lol. when we're home, we leave the pen door open, so she can come and go as she pleases.

and even though we allow her to sleep in bed with us, she always leaves during the night to go in her pen and sleep in her doghouse!

thanks i guess i will have to invest in a pen... to keep my peace of mind.. she hates being confined..but its for her own good.. she hasn't been alone yet...shes either with me or my mom.. i guess i will get a pen and start a bit at a time, thinking about it i could leave her with my grandmother in a pen that way noone could walk on her, she can't escape, etc.Hate to say this but part of me wishes i would have waited to get my baby until i was a bit older, like married with a house lol.. i know i'm going to want to travel more and go out with friends.but another part of me loves her more than anything and am so glad shes in my life..because if i would have waited i wouldn't have her..but they're like having a little baby.hate to see what i'll be like with kids LOL!!.so i'm going to have to find a way to let this anxiety go and trust people, thanks for suggesting a pen, i think it'll be a great start for me

Hhhmm....we had a different experience. The Iris was a horrible pen for us. Such a bad design with the horizontal spaced bars...like a ladder . I didn't even have it two days and ZoE at 10 weeks old scaled the walls and climbed out. I was afraid she'd fall from the top & injure herself.

I have a fold up one I keep in the back of my car. I've used it when we were visiting people and I didn't want her running around their home. It fine for use when supervised, but I wouldn't leave ZoE alone in it for two reasons. First, she'd chew her way out of it. Second, she's flipped it on its side, while inside it by walking up the side wall, and walked it around the room like a hamster in a ball.
