| Is there a harness you can leave on all the time? This might be a dumb newbie question but I'm getting the impression everyone puts the harness on/off their dogs when they are going outside. Our pup is quite the wild man when I'm trying to put the harness on. And since we're working on potty training, we're in and out so many times per day. I'm wondering if there is a harness that you leave on your yorkie all day? Or at least one that you would just take off for bed? |

| Just considering that the step-in harnesses take .002 seconds to put on...step-click...and if he's that wild, well, I make mine stand on hind feet by putting my hand under their chests to put harnesses on, but yours is a pup so pick him up...and considering that they might get tangled up in, or even chew the harness and swallow pieces, I am wondering why/if you would really want to leave the harness on all day anyway. For speed, you could instead keep the leash connected to at least 1 D-ring. I have several harnesses for my dogs, but never leave them on full time, and never when I am not with them. Do try to get one that fits well, though!

The reason I want to leave it on all day is that he is going #1 pretty much every hour while he's awake and it's taking a minute to wrangle the harness on him while he's in get-outside-panic-mode. | |

| Never had her wear her harness all the time, however, there have been a couple times when Cali had to wear her Buddy Belt all day and we had no problems.

| I use a Choke Free Harness Ultra Easy ChokeFree & PawRider Pet Seatbelt Adapter (USA) and have no problem leaving it on Sugar for the day if need be (if we are out and about or in and out) because it wears comfortable on her and is also step in for ease of putting on and taking off.

| Your harness might be harder to use, we have this type.Top Paw® Brown Paw Dog Harness - Harnesses - Collars, Harnesses & Leashes - PetSmart I take it off because I don't want it matting her hair and I think she is more comfy without it, thought she doesn't really seem bothered by it. This one is truly "step-in" I lay it down and she puts one foot on each side of the center strap, then the buckles/latch come up and connect on her back. There are similar styles that go over the head and buckle. It really is quick and easy, and she has learned to pick up each foot and put it in the hole...very cute! |

| The first harness I bought for Max was one those adjustable, strappy things. We tried it a couple of times and couldn't get it on right, especially on an impatient puppy. Second harness slid over his head and snapped easily around the torso. That one was good until Max started wearing topknot and longer hair. We then bought the Buddy Belt. I am officially biased because I am now a BB retailer -- love them that much. The BB is so easy to whip on and off that even my 74-year old father can get the 2 boys ready to go in less than a minute. My boys will nap in them, although they prefer to be nekkid in the house. There are other harnesses too that are easy to put on and take off quickly, or that are comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

| Quote: Partly paraphrased from maggiefromnj: I, too, take them off because I don't want them matting their hair...although so far this has not been a problem, and I think they are more comfy without them, thought they don't really seem bothered by them. These are truly "step-in" harnesses. I can lay them down and they can put one foot on each side of the center strap...though they are usually too excited and I advance to Plan B, then the buckles/latch come up and connect on their backs...clip the lead to the dual D-rings and your done. In a hurry, leave the lead clipped to 1 D-ring...if you have time, clip the other D-ring, too. There are similar styles that go over the head and buckle. I do not like the harness to go over their heads...that's why I only buy this "bra" type. It really is quick and easy, and if they never learn to pick up each foot and put it in the hole, (Plan B) stick each of your hands up through one hole, grip each of the pups legs with a hand, raise pup onto hind legs a bit, pop the legs through, settle pup back on all fours and snap the clip over his back...very fast and easy! Kind of like fixing the 'finger string" on a yo-yo. Incidentally, I do the handle of the lead the same way on my wrist...I pull the lead back through the hand hole, making it into a second loop and put that loop over my wrist. If pup tugs, the loop tightens around my wrist and won't slip off or out of my hand. There are also same type harnesses with velcro...some much wider and made out of fabric. To remove the harness, squish the clip with your fingers, harness drops to the floor, pup steps (bounces...lol) away. Again, for speed, leave 1 D-ring attached to the lead for next time. Only downsides I have found so far are if the harness is too big or not properly adjusted...a smart pup might wriggle out, and pinching your fingers when squishing the clip to remove...owie! I don't really like the skinny band width, but mine do not chew at the skinny harnesses like they have done with the wider ones, they will wear them for hours without apparent discomfort, and they fit beautifully and almost undetectably under (most?) clothes. They come in almost infinite colors, have matching leads available, and because they are so skinny, after I put the harness on, I brush their hair out smoothly around and through the harness. You can barely tell they are wearing them. I am not sure if I have pix or not. They are also pretty inexpensive.

| I'd second or well third the t-shirt harness. Just remember Yorkies are long haired dogs-literally hair so leaving a collar, harness or even clothing on will eventually irritate depending on the dog's individual tolerance. It's like when you leave your hair in a pony tail too long...the tighter the worse, the more active the more tug and irritation.

| Marley keeps his harness on all day; it is made of nylon. I take it off when crating for the night and brushing. |
