The website says the dogs are "home bred" but this is such nonsense. All of them are wearing neck tags that say the name of the "breeder" the dog came from. So of course, I took down the names of some of the breeders, Googled them when I got home, and 2 of them were on the list of USDA puppy mills. I don't know how this place is in business. Some of the dogs come with antibiotics. No puppy should come with an antibiotic! That just screams that the dog is not healthy! Ay I don't know why this place gets business!

How sickening. A puppy that young should never be away from it's mom but when you add the fact that they have intestinal parasites and probably upper respiratory tract infections plus who knows what else it is no wonder so many died.
It is so pathetic but many people believe that just because a dog has registration papers that it is OK to buy it. It turns my stomach to even know that such places exist.

It's finally, because the website lists a different number than the boutique, but if you look they have the same address. I originally called the number on the website and it led me to the Puppy Boutique. It was so sad, trust me

Just f.y.i. for the sake of your learning about all this...The puppies from that store are shipped to them from THE HUNTE CORPORATION, which is the same evil disgusting broker my Miss Mini came from...

There's a pet store in my local mall (Genesee Valley) called Family Puppy that sells puppies they get from an puppy mill in Indiana. The store "partners" with specific veterinarians for care of their puppies and you pay for vet care as part of your purchase price, with those same partnered vets.

Family Puppy partners with Swartz Creek Veterinary Hospital. I would hope that the people that are against pet stores/puppy mills, also wouldn't support veterinarians that are making $$$ of those places.

There is also a store in my area too that does the same thing with a vet. When it was time for me to pick a new vet I chose one that was not affiliated with the puppymill/pet store. Instead, my vet supports the local shelter with his participation in a low cost spay/neuter program. His office might not be the huge mansion "down the road" but it also wasn't built from the dirty money the other practice made from the pet shop.

I love his commitment to rescue. You know that your vet is a winner when not only does he support a local program but he also is a supporter of Gray Hound Rescue who owns rescues and vets the local rescues fosters.

Steve's Wonderful World of Pets (NOT WONDERFUL) also does this with "GEORGETOWN ANIMAL HOSPITAL" (insert 4 letter word). According to my paperwork the vet from their examined and cleared my Miss Mini 2ce before we BOUGHT HER from "STEVES WONDERFUL WORLD OF PETS (NOT) who purchase their pups from HUNTE CORPORATION (insert another 4letter word). Yet within a couple of days this same vet, upon her first checkup was deemed unfit for purchase, because of a severe congenital eye defect. I refused to hand her over, and believe me they tried. They told me she needed to be put to sleep blah blah blah, I can't give every detail (tooo painful to type), but we refused and took her from there to an independent Eye Specialist (the only one in this area) and she said she could, and she did fix it. We had to put meds in her eyes everyday until she weighed 2lbs. and was fit for surgery, however; the defect presented with an emergency need to operate (permanent loss of vision) and my 1.5 lb. baby had to go under for an extensive surgery, several hours long. It was horrible, really horrible, after the surgery she went into shock and I had to put her under my shirt against my skin and hold her all night for 2 days and 2 nights and give her nutracal and pain meds, while she violently trembled. Absolutely horrible experience, THOUGH I am happy to say she is beautiful today, NOT HEALTHY, but happy and beautiful, and loved very, very, very, much...

I'm standing by Linda on this one. Most of the dogs that come into rescue need more work then any dog that was bred. They have baggage and scars that take years to heal and that's if they finally do. Those in rescue spend COUNTLESS HOURS to recondition what was done to them. This is not to mention the amount of money WE spend and I say WE because although while in foster the rescue will pay for vetting there is most of the time not enough money and it's the foster who ends up paying a lot of it on their own. Then we had the spay and a dental that needed to be done. This is not to mention the time in working with her. Three months later we are still working dillignently on issues she has from her past. Linda is RIGHT in what she says. It should be expected that breeders, check out homes and follow the same protocol as a rescue. Money is made in breeding. Money is lost in rescue but us rescuers are ok with that, because we know what we are doing is for the better. Our dogs may not have pedigrees, may not always be the best bred, but they still deserve a good home and good life.

I was once at a birthday party and stuck up a conversation with someone who had previously been employed at the local Petland. She told me how puppies would be delivered dead and dying. They were told to toss them into the dumpster.

Where do these puppies come from.......

a Canadian news program just did an investigation on Pet Habitat and PJ's Pets here in Canada which lead them back to the Hunte group in the US and then further back to Pennsylvania to the puppy mill.
The puppy mill woman said oh in regard to the particular dogs in question they have luxating patella issues but Hunte took them they just pay less for them.
It's a shame that people still view that puppy in the window as something to be saved and rescued from the evil puppy mills.
Hunte apparently at the time had 90,000 dogs and they just load and ship them in trucks.
The girl who bought from the pet store paid $2500 for the dog, Hunte paid the woman $200 for wonky knees instead of the full $400 for a "healthy puppy mill dog"
