| Mobile Groomer tip?? I posted this in Grooming but only got one response. Hoping if I post here I will get more... I made Sami's first grooming appointment with a mobile groomer. They charge $30-35 plus a $20 fuel surcharge. I am not sure about how I feel about tipping. It is already pretty pricey. What are your thoughts? |

| I am a true believer that you get what you pay for. I like the ease of having the mobile groomer come to our house and the job that she does (have only done this twice so far). I tipped her $10 each time. She charges $45 for the works.

| If you like the work they do, tip them! You'd be amazed how expensive it is to run a mobile grooming salon. The insurance alone is a killer!!! Heck, my groomer charges that much and it's a regular grooming place(actually a grooming school, too). It sounds like you're getting a pretty good deal, especially since you live in California. Good luck

| Yes, tip. My haircuts are about that price and the stylist still get a ten dollar tip..and they don't come to me! That sounds fairly cheap for being mobile.

| I always tip our groomer. She is a good groomer but just incredible with my girl which is most important to me. She could charge double or triple and I would pay it without hesitation. Knowing my dog is in the hands of someone who loves these little creatures as much as I do is so reassuring. |

| My Sammy had the most wonderful mobile groomer who I have highly recommended to other people. He charged $55. to groom and I gave him a $10. tip. At Christmas I would give him money in a card too. He was so fantastic with Sammy. Even though Sam is at Rainbow Bridge now, the groomer will stop by to say hi and see how I am when he is in the neighborhood. So if you have a good groomer and you and your pet really like him/her, it's nice to give them a tip to show your appreciation. |

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | We tip our groomer too. I just have always been taught that if someone performs a service for you, you need to tip them.

| I guess I am the odd man out, I have used a Mobile Groomer for my dogs for the past 5 years, I do not tip. My groomers are independent business people who work for themselves. I pay a average $20.00 premium over standard rates. Currently pay $55 per grooming for full groom. I do buy them Christmas gifts and Birthday gifts as they have become trusted friends. |

| Agree - tip. I have a mobile groomer and absolutely love it. Won't ever be bringing him into a groomers place again so long as there are mobiles. He is so much more relaxed, and so am I. AND he gets a great haircut and she always does what I ask. It's worth it. She charges $55 for us and I tip $10.

| Updating this thread - is anyone currently using a mobile groomer? Mine charges $85. She is not the franchise owner. I've used her a few times and have been pleased. I've tipped $10-15 each time and will continue to always tip. But how much? Is it like a hairdresser and you tip 15-20%? Honestly, that much (fee + tip) would prevent me from using her as frequently as I'd like. But not sure my $10 is appropriate given the $85.00 fee. And believe me, I have tried to groom myself, but too many bad haircuts have led to this current hot (but very lovable) mess! We need professional help at this time! Suggestions? Btw, $85 is their standard fee for any size/type dog. |

| Glad you rejuvenated this thread. I've been thinking of using a mobile groomer, but not for $85. + tip, and here I've been squawking (to myself) over the $55. plus tip I've been paying lol. I don't know what this mobile groomer charges but I am sure not less then your $85.

| I always tip my groomer and he is the owner. Just because someone owns the business does not mean everything goes to him/her, there's a lot of expenses, ie. supplies, equipment, insurance, taxes, license fees. I'm a hairstylist and independent contractor and most of us in the service industry do live on tips. |
