My furkids Donating Member | a few questions #1)Bentley (our new little guy) is the first male I have ever had...He still squats when he pees....he gets his underside wet...all the time. Someone on here said they use a wipe to help with the urine smell...anyone know what that could be? #2) I have 3 yorkies...I started using distilled water to help with the yucky eyes....it has helped a lot...but, they still do tear and get a little yucky...I wet a cotton ball and gently keep wiping until they are clean...however...this does not get rid of the stinky eyes.,what do you all use to help with the odor #3) As I had said...Bentley is our first little guy...My females are more attached to me than hubby but, they still go to him for lovin...Bentley is stuck to me like glue!! LOL...I LOVE it!! but, he doesn't seem to want anybody but me...which is fine but...I have work to do!! LOL...as I am typing this he is INSIDE my bathrobe sleeping...this is where he likes to be...Do males tend to be more attached to their "moms"?

| I can not tell you if males are more attached or not but I can tell you I have 5 and all of them have to be right by me when it is bed time. I do not get much of the bed as they are all over me. They all seem to be attached to me. I have three males and two females and they fight for who will be the closest to me.

| I don't have answers to your 1st two questions, but number three I might be able to discuss. When we first got Bailey (he was around 7 months old), he stuck to me like glue. My wife was a bit jealous, but she figured in time he would distribute the love. While he does spend time with her, he will chose to sit on my lap every single time. In fact last night, we were watching a tv program and Bailey was sitting in his usual position on my lap. At a commercial, Natalie called to him. He raised his head, looked over at her and must have thought, "You have got to be kidding!", and lowered his head. I'm beginning to think they bond to a person and it is for life. But the good news is, in time they will love everyone in the home. |

| How old is Bentley? My guy is almost 9 months and still squats when he pees. I am beginning to think he'll never be a leg lifter - lol.

My furkids Donating Member | LOL!! Bentley is 7 months old now...I have seen him (barely) lift his leg...this has only happened a couple of times...I think once he is neutered he will still squat...my daughter has a LARGE Golden male (8yrs old) that STILL squats...kind of funny !

| I think you are right, Brutus was neutered the day after Thanksgiving and has continued squatting. Someone told me that if you get them neutered before they start lifting their leg it will help with marking. Not sure if its true or not, but we havent had any marking issues in the house.

| Teddy is 3 years old and doesn't lift his leg. I wash his area each night with a washcloth and mild soap and water and he never smells. As for clinging, my boys are definitely the lovers! Can't help with the stinky eyes - I haven't had that problem in any of my three.

| WAaaaahhhhhhh...I so hoped my girls were attached to my hubby because they were girls...I've been thinking of adding a boy to my bunch...My girls only see my husband about 2 full hours a day as he works long hours. He sees them in the a.m. and just before bed. Sundays are usually his only day off, with about 3 full weeks throughout the year that he is home 24/7...but they love him to death and prefer him over me...I feed them, train them, discipline, love etc...WHY CAN'T I BE No.1???!!!

| do you find that the boys that are paper trained are the ones that don't lift their legs? I had the sweetest little boy that was not the sharpest, he would go outside & get his right leg next to a tree, then lift his left leg. I never thought about this but are dogs am-pee-dexterous leg lifters or like humans either right or left handed or LOL should I say right or left legged

| Brody will be 2 on 3/21/12 and is outdoor trained but doesn't lift a leg to pee. Mia will be 2 on 3/16/12 and lifts her leg a tiny bit off the ground, though. Brody has no issues with urine smell, but doesn't get himself wet at all when he pees.

| As for the pee smell, I always keep my male's belly shaved pretty close so that he doesn't get urine on his hair. That really seems to keep him smelling fresh, and I've never had him smell like pee. He is also verrrrry attached to me. He loves my husband as well, but he makes it very clear who he prefers

| Oh, both Brody and Mia love their Daddy, but are very attached to me. While they are "Daddy's girl" and "Daddy's buddy" there is no mistaking that they are each "Mommy's baby" ! They mostly sit with me when relaxing, get extremely excited with I come home to the point of breaking loose from him in the yard when they hear the truck or my motorcycle and running to me...or whining in the house when they hear me pull into the driveway.
