Senior Yorkie Talker | Yorkie Breeders coming to YorkieTalk to get popularity?????? This is a concern for me. Some of the people that are breeders aren't on very often and some of them are still newbies but joined back in like 2005. I'm very concerned that some of these people could be backyard breeders that produce puppies that aren't healthy. Some have been banned and are no longer a member. This is something to watch for. I've also been reading posts where people have been making up things about breeders for no reason. Kind of odd. Trying to make them gain popularity. I am looking around for references about YorkieTalk breeders because I am interested in showing a puppy and maybe starting a breeding program. But I have chosen to do things the right way. I'm 17 right now. But I have been looking around for AKC breeders and possible mentors. Its not a money thing for me. I love this breed and my Amara means the world to me. There is always someone making fun of me because I spend like 80 dollars on food and clothes and things I feel she needs. I would spend my last for her. I'm looking to get another puppy in the future. I love Yorkies. I may add a Maltese. I love dogs. And I look forward to have more dogs. No matter what my boyfriend says. I'm not naming anyone in particular. Its just I feel some people aren't really breeding for the right reasons. It makes me sad that so many yorkies do not have homes and are being abused and neglected because people throw them away like trash. The world is a cruel place and if I have yorkie babies in the future I will be very strict about where they go. I've been doing research on contracts and learning about the breed more. But I'm still just a newb. I'm currently looking at VanGogh Yorkshire Terriers and TyAva Yorkshire Terriers to get my future puppies from. I like the Parti and Biewer dogs too. They're beautiful. But I don't know much about them like I do Yorkies. Anyway. Thanks to anyone who read this. Just me rambling again.

| I can agree with you on everything you said...I am doing lots of research on Biewers and would love to be a breeder one day too but I wouldn't attempt it until I know everything there is to know about breeding and the Breed. You sound like your on the right track. Best of luck to you p.s. we have 4 dogs 3 cats 2 parakeets and 5 fish and my husband has said after everyone of them no more animals but I always manage to get around that...lol. Your boyfriend will love them all no matter how many you get.

| If you are really interested in showing then contact your nearest breed or conformation club. That way you can meet people who show dogs and possibly find someone to teach you what you need to know. Go to the AKC website and find the place where you can search the clubs. That is the only way you are going to have a chance to really learn the things you need to know. Yes, there are way too many dogs being bred by irresponsible people. Buying good healthy breeding stock or a show dog is going to cost you big bucks when you get to that point. In the mean time if you find someone who will teach you the ropes enjoy the experience of the show ring and all that goes with it. |

| i was going to say the same thing as Gracie, goggle Yorkie Club of America. then follow their promotes to your state, and it will list breeders and clubs in your area. They will also probably have the regional shows listed, you could start by attending one and just watching. There are also classes for what is referred to as jr handlers. Showing is expensive an you will probably have to pay $3,000 or so for a show quality dog, so LOL at 17 unless you have a trust fund it might take a while. Also check out the 4 H clubs in your area, they have lots of programs for teens that love animals. |

| Honestly, if I had a concern like this (and I don't presently), I would pm Admin. Wether I agree or not with your concerns, as a member, donating or not, you have a right to inquire. However; as with all boards, Admin who are kind enough to run this board sets forth the rules and regs and such., therefore, I would direct concerns such as yours at them first, to avoid any miscommunication and/or hurt feelings! I also admire your sincere desire to become a breeder or join the show circle! I am sure with your tenacity and your sincere desire and passion for dogs you will be successful! I'm glad you joined YT it will be fun to watch you grow in to this "professional" dog show/breeder! I look forward to seeing many posts by you in the future!

| The reason why you see so many breeders that have been members on here along time but are newbies is they come on here to sell their pups then disapear. Free advertising and yes they are bybs

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Well kudos to you IlmyorkieAmara, for researching, and for having an inquiring mind. As Chachi stated there seems to be more than a few "members" here, who come on to post when they have litters; to sell their puppies. They do little or nothing to contribute to the board. And as others have suggested, I work visit the www.ytca.org, to see if there is a Yorkie club nearby, if not that, then a toy dog club, if not that, then just a general dog club. You can also look at a junior handler program run by the AKC, I'm not sure if you would qualify, but you might be able to. this will help you get your feet wet, in understanding the show environment and how to prepare and present a dog in the show ring. The art and science of breeding, nuturing, and showing purebred dogs, needs all the passionate young folks to come behind us old "fogies". The very best of luck in your endeavours.

Senior Yorkie Talker | Makes me sad. Those babies are innocent. Some of them are lucky to find good homes and some of them find awful people who are only interested in the babies because of the way they look and what they can charge for the puppies that they are repeatedly forced to produce cycle after cycle.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I would not judge a breeder by how many posts she has on Yorkietalk or even if she were a member of Yorkietalk. I think you might be able to tell a little about them by some of their posts, but good salesmen are good salesman, and they know what you want to hear. If I were you, I'd start going to shows, and meeting people, there is so much to learn before you breed, but you need to develop an eye for the breed, and understand standard backwards and forward. After that you have to ask yourself what you think you can add to the breed to make it better. I do know that there are breeders who are looking to mentor someone; they just want to know that you are doing it for the right reasons.
