| Peeing Question ? Hi Everyone, Sorry about the gross topic! But I need help from those of you that have female dogs! Piper is very low to the ground..so when she pees she gets even lower. And when she pees she is getting it on her little hind legs. I trimmed her leg hair and gave her a sanitary trim but it is still happening (not as bad). I am consistantly wipping her down with puppy wipes and bathing her bottom every 3 days in the sink. Is there any grooming tips you guys can help me with to avoid this from happening? I am used to male dogs. While, Teddy doesn't lift his leg, he is still a male and pees differently. I feel so bad for Piper...all suggestions welcome!! Thanks!!

| My little girl has super short legs and does the same thing.... I just have to wash her rear a lot! I am also walking her out side to get used to it as she was never taken out as a puppy.... so I'm hoping that peering on the grass will help.

Katie Scarlett's Mommy Donating Member | Katie Scarlett does this too. We wipe her with a puppy wipe after every single visit to the potty pad (except at night when we are asleep). It really helps us. I know this might not be feasible for everyone, but being a stay at home wife, I keep a sharp eye on her. That and weekkls baths keeps KS fresh and smelling good!

| My smallest Roxy smells like wee wee girl when my brother or dad watch her because they refuse to wipe her after peeing. Can't critize free pooch care though.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've never had a female, so I can't answer you, but for males, they suggest growing a pee string that directs the flow of urine. It really works and Joey doesn't splatter pee all over, I wonder if this would work on a female? The pee string doesn't have to be that long. This page has more information, see "Trimming Urination Area of a Dog" Welcome to Holly Huxford's Animal Page!

| Looks like a lot of people have the same problem! Piper did have a pee string "woo woo string" but the problem was much worse when she did. I think because she is so low to the ground the pee string actually caused pee to dribble on her legs. Now that she has had her sanitary trim...it isn't as bad...but is still happening. Do you think if I trimmed her inner hind leg area very short that would help?

| Hilarious! I love it. A woo woo string... Honestly, I've never had this problem with my female. I think she almost touches the ground when she pees, so there isn't really anywhere else for it to go... lol

| Nancy, you're right it probably was too long! I think trimming her inner hind leg hair should help. I just emailed Kathy and she said that should work too. So I am going to try that tonight! She doesn't mind me washing her at all...so I guess that is a good trade off!

| I envy you!! Piper basically touches the ground too...I don't know why she is getting it on herself. I think it has to do with her inner leg hair being long and that touching the ground as well? Maybe because she is still a tiny baby and her legs aren't spreading wide enough?
