OP I feel your pain and have found some dogs just don't seem to care if you spray or shake stuff at them or some of the other ideas people have, it's all trial and error. The problem with some of the methods is you have to be next to the dog to make it effective. I work from home and I would be in my office upstairs, on the phone and he would be on the landing looking out and bark and run down the stairs ready to attack, or I would be cooking with my hands a mess and he would see something and then start, then he would see me coming and take off running somewhere. I normally had to shut us in my office so I could work on the phone. I did something radical once to cure my first yorkie from non stop barking. It was 25 years ago, and I will preface this with if you want to jump on me go ahead cause LOL I don't give a chit My vet told me there was an operation for debarking, so I had it done when he was having another procedure, the vet took a few biopsy type hole punches in his vocal cords which reduced the bark to a very low raspy sound. For a few days I could tell it hurt him and I felt bad, but after several days he was back to his old but much more quite self. I don't think I would ever have this done again, unless I was forced into some type of situation where I had to live in a condo or apartment and it was that or give up a barking dog.

Anything that can get in the eyes is dangerous and I don't play with eyes they don't grow back and aren't always easily fixed if something goes wrong with them. Have you even gotten lemon juice in you eye? It hurts its not just a little sting and in order to stop it most of the time you have to rinse your eye and a dog cant do that or say hey this is crazy burning so you have no idea how bad it hurts them just that is does. I never said she was purposely spraying it in the eyes but you cant control the dog to not move so that you know there not going to jerk and get sprayed right in the eye.
I think you really need to recheck your answer tearless shampoo, it does sting.. I have tried it so has my son and other babies out their.. Now as for the bottle uses it is as small as the bottle shown in the link above. Only drops come out not a spray. I'm sure everyone here has gotten at one time or another something sprayed in their eyes and they were just fine.. I do understand that sometime people and animals have different reactions to thing. I say you are a good mommy because you're fighting about this. not to be funny or anything. I feel that you're really just looking to much into the what if. I did go to my vet two matter of fact. I again would never do anything to hurt my pup because as everyone know I nursed my pup back to good health because she was so sick when I got her. I think you're lucky that Callie has not been exposed to things that could hurt her because that is the right thing for pup to stay safe. But again things happen their is no need to be mad and I'm glad everyones opinion counts. The reason we are all writing is to help one another not to fight but the concern is noted. Let go back to being friend because this site is about building with each other even if at times we are wrong.

I'm not trying to fight with her but there are people who will read this and more then likely over lemon the water and end up getting it in the dogs eye. Not everyone researches things and talks to there vets about it. I can just see someone doing that and causing there dog a lot of pain. I do play nice with fellow yorkie talkers and my post follows the rules if it did not the moderator would take care of them so lets leave moderating to the moderators please.

Thank you for understanding I feel people should not fight over what if's.. Now I understand that things can happen but like I said before I did it I asked my vet the two who were treating Brandy. The bottle is pitifully small should be called a spray bottle because it does not spray. I like everyones Ideas but ripping a person another one isn't right because to be honest trying to stop a dog from bark anyway everyone has tried is wrong because that' what dogs do..Even water in a water bottle can harm them did you know if water is left in a spray bottle long enough it could get bacteria, as well as rust you can't see in a nossil, and those thing can lead to eye irritation. I work in the medical field and am working on my RN so nothing suprises me now and day. I feel some people are luckier than others in this matter.

The dog may have been ok but the dog also may have been in pain too. You have to look into the what if when posting things on here because some really clueless people come and read this stuff and then attempt it. Callie has been exposed to things that will hurt her but I would not purposefully do something to her that might hurt her. Callie's baths take probably longer then most dogs baths because I am very obsessive about not getting shampoo in her eyes and even more so after reading what happened to a dog that did. Nobody said I was mad......... I think this site is about educating people and that's what I feel I am doing.

I was not ripping any one a new one that is just how you took it it. Ok so add lemon to that and you have a seriously terrible problem. I never squirted Callie in the head or face so I never had to worry about getting it in her eye plus the bottles had clean filtered water in them and where only used maybe twice.

Smile really mad...

WELLLLL I guess you all will be really mad at me , but.... I had the debarking surgery done to my stud dog(I no longer breed) because he barked constantly when the females were in heat. Nothing worked so I had the surgery done he still barked but a softer tone. what works for 1 dog does not work for all.

Education my dear comes from asking. I know this because I major in education but switched to medicine. Now if you readd you're answer then you'll understand what I have been teying to tell you. People don't do thing on purpose to animal thing just happen sometime but I'm also sure that one time or another somwthing bad has happen to you, your pup, or a family member and you had to say sorry I didn't mean it.

Not sure what your trying to say? People do, do things to animals to hurt them and on purpose. There are also people who come on here read a few posts about something and thinking they know enough try it and then something ends up going bad. Not thinking about the what ifs could leave you unprepared for certain things.

LOL very creative using the squeaker!!!! Thats all you have to do though is find something that breaks through their craze and tells them okay Ive heard enough. We are definitely the crazy dog people for finding some of these self training ideas
