Has anyone used this to control barking?
 

I'll probably catch heck for this, but I'm at my wits' end with Rocco's barking. He is perfect in every way, but he is getting downright obsessive and is now even barking at pick up trucks driving by!!! I've tried everything else I can think of. I saw this product and wondered if it's safe and humane and effective:

I bought that 6 years ago when Baby was a puppy bc I lived in an apartment that didn't allow dogs. Let's just say I had to press the button constantly. Sold it on eBay. Does that answer your question? Lol ;)

We had similar results. It didn't seem to slow down Ruby's barking a bit . . . .but the constant high frequency being emitted (because of her barking) was punishing Leroy who was being a really good boy.

Well another Yorkie mommy helped me with this one.. we're not allowed to have pets in our building but I have tried everything to keep Brandy from barking..she told me take a lemon and squeez the juice into a small spray bottle and every times she bad barks tell her BAD BARK and spray the lemon juice in her mouth.. it sounds bad but it only took two small sprays to stop the barking... and we also keep the empty bottle close to the door so she could see it when we say BAD BARK and she stops and moves away..no collar work just lemon juice and water.. the bitterness she hated but made her breath smell good. What happens if they move and you end up squirting them in the eye or if you squirt bad and it gets in there eye? That could be dangerous and I would not suggest anyone do this.

I use a water bottle and put it on stream! My yorkies know as soon as I pull it out to stop barking at the cats outside or the knock on the door! LOL

I only have water in my water bottle!

Callie dose not bark but I have used the water bottle for other things with just water in it and it works great but I really would worry about anything mixed with the water because puppies and dogs move so fast they could end up getting it in the eye and lemon juice hurts like crazy when it gets in your eye.

you are right but shock collar are way worse to suggest.. but their is way more water in it then lemon so it wont harm the pup.. not pure..

This person wasn't suggesting a shock collar. Lemon is pretty strong how do you know it wouldn't still hurt? Maybe any one on wanting to do this should squirt in there eye first to see if its safe and doesn't burn because I bet it does. The dog can not say if it burns or even do anything about it if it does but suffer.

Well I must say if you see how big the bottle is you just might laugh.. it's about a inch and sprays little drops not a full stream spray so it really can't harm the pup. Before I do anything with my pup I do my home work and ask my vet. Reg water didn't work with Brandy and commands either. So I thought lemon juice was a bad idea till I read up on it and ask my vet. Many trainers use drops for dogs to stop the barking the vet said a few drops in more water will be ok just for the bitterness and stupid me before I did give Brandy the spray I tested to make sure it was not to strong.. I actually by accident sprayed it in my eyes I thought I maybe in trouble but the spray was drops and didn't burn.. their are right and wrong ways to do everything. You must always ask and look around about what you do to your pup.. I'm not the bad Yorkie mom you make me out to be.. as for shock collars I read online on one of the stop barking training sights they said when water in a spray bottle doesn't work try the ultrasonic sound collar.. and if that doesn't work shock collars.. One person actually wrote that they got a shock collar as the last resort and it burned their dogs neck and if they had know to do the lemon juice mix they would have saved their dog from harm..

Nobody ever said anything about shock collars........... The problem is all it takes is for someone not to know how much to use and have to much lemon in the juice and then you have a problem and it can hurt the dog.

I'm not looking for a fight but I totally understand where you're coming from.. But I would think like most furbaby mommies before you do anything you look it up and ask your vet like I did, I actually asked two vets a male and female. The male said let the pup lick the lemon the female said little drops and a lot of water.. I know no one mentioned shock collars but if you read what I did before I did the lemon spay you would be suprise what people do.. and the smaller dogs have the hardest time.. I really don't mind if Brandy barks I love it.. but my neighbors not so much.. When I do move to our house I will let her what she wants.. but it is bad behavior if the pup doesn't listen. I know from one mom to another that before you suggest something you should alway advise someone what you did and explain it and to ask their vet before they try anything.. Trust me I have done every thing to get Brandy well, I would not want to do anything to make she sick or put her at risk of any dangers..

A lot of people won't look it up or ask there vet about it. You said squeeze a lemon in a small bottle so I would think that would be to much lemon and would be dangerous. I really think its a terrible idea at lease how you described it in your first post..........
