| ![]() So sorry. Not an easy thing to do yet it gives relief to all. Been there last June. Your vets office sounds so much like mine. Hugs to you and your family. |

| ![]() Thank you for all of your kind words. Each of my 3 younger kids (20,18,16) had a moment with 2-bits last night. I laid in the floor with him after everyone went to bed. I did this with him everyday when he was a puppy and to big for my lap. My DH got up this morning and had his moment with him. At 9am this morning 2bits went peacefully to sleep. I told him to go play with Bunkey. My DH said that he has only been to the vets twice in the past year and he really needs to find another reason to go visit the vet. Our pack is now 5. Please keep my two younger kids in your prayers. 2-bits had been here most of or all of their lives. My 18yr old has to go to work and be a grownup today. I am keeping my 16yr old with me all day,an advantage to homeschooling. Although I am still crying,I know in my heart that this was the right thing to do. He would of only been more miserable from here on out. Blessings to each of you. |

| ![]() I know this is a difficult time, but if it helps, I think this is one of the most important lessons my dogs (and other pets) have taught me. It's important to be able to love with your whole heart, grieve when it is over, and then learn to love again. For your younger children this might be their first "close" experience to grieving, and it is necessary for all of us to learn to go through the process, and that it is possible to come out the other side, and learn to love again. Nothing makes my heart sadder than to hear someone say, "I can't go through that pain again, I'll never love again (whether pet or human)"...to close yourself to the pain of loss is to close yourself to the power of love... I believe that Two-bits would thank-you for putting him first this time, and letting him go...and in order to pay him back for the lessons and love he has shared with you and your children, he'd want you to grieve, and then love again.... He'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge... |

| ![]() I feel your pain, ((((hugs))))making a decision like you did is the hardest yet most loving and unselfish act you can do for a beloved pet. How comforting for him it was to go to sleep with your arms around him. After going through this 4 times, when I was planning on getting Lola my mom asked me why I would subject myself to the pain that eventually would come again. I said after knowing the love and joy a pet brings to my life, the emptiness without one would be far worse. Take comfort in your family, your memories, and your other pets, your heart will slowly heal and your many years of memories will be with you forever. Last edited by DBlain; 02-07-2012 at 09:55 AM. |

| ![]() It is the worst part of owning a pet. Their life span is so much shorter than ours. I'll say a prayer for you and everyone else with an elderly pet. It is best to let them go before they have to suffer the indignity of the loss of their ability to function as they would like to. Your doing what you is best for him as painful as it may be for you and the family. |

| ![]() I'm crying as I read this because I know the pain you and your family is feeling. Having a dog for 15 or more years...it's soooo hard to let go. You know you did the right thing, but it hurts...it hurts real bad. And not only do you have to live with your grief, you see your kids hurting and that is so hard as a mother. I feel you. May your baby rest in peace. I'm sure he had a great life living with you and your family. I send you great big hugs from me and my crew ![]()

| ![]() RIP 2 Bits, I will keep your family in my prayers. It sounds like 2 Bits was an awesome member of your family and was loved well. I am sure he will be missed. I hope my pets feel as loved as I am sure 2 Bits did.
