I feel like I found myself when I met them!! I know that sounds crazy but I had my first child at 16 and my second at 18 I had to go into mommy mode and never at time to find me. THey both have helped me find myself and realize I love myself just as much as they love me.

It is not crazy. You were a child...no offense intended...but expected to care for a newborn as if you were settled into adulthood. I was 22 before my first was born and 26 when my second arrived, but I got my first Yorkie-Poo when I was 12-14 (don't remember how old exactly...I was just a kid, after all ) until I lost him at 24 and he 'completed' me even then for all the same reasons you describe. The 2 Yorkies have now light that same fire. It is a sickness...Yorkie-itis...from which one never recovers!

These little loves have us both totally in love with them. They are our kids and always will be. They have brought so much joy into our lives. I can't imagine for one second, life without them in it. DH says I am in my second motherhood with them and I admit he is right.

I have to agree, it is like a second motherhood. My dh just gave me a hard time a couple minutes ago. Bear's here on my bed beside me, and I look down and see his ear straight up! I say to dh....where's your phone? I need to get a picture of this? Where's your phone?....Hurry.....he's gonna move! I take the picture, and he says to me....we don't have this many pictures of the kids, lol! I said, yes we do, we have albums and disks full of pictures. He says....maybe of the first two but not the other two. Bad thing is, he's probably right.

Ditto, ditto and more ditto to everything everyone has said. Like my signature says, "Nothing quite like a Yorkie!" and there really isn't. I've had other dogs all my life, I've had cats my adult life, but Jack totally drew me in and stole my heart. He has a tenacity for everything he does - from protecting us from the big bad deer that we occasionally find in the yard, to the way he whips his head back and forth when he is "gettin' chilly" (his little squeaky toy) to that little wiggly butt ... oh and I can't forget those big brown eyes... There truly is "Nothing quite like a Yorkie!"

Love it!!! My DH is the same way. Yet when his friends come over he is like, those are Rhonda's dogs. Mine is the big dog outside. But now I have a picture to hold against him. Lol. I think you are right about the cameras. Digital has made it much easier. I have a lot of my youngest boy. My oldest got cheated.

I followed that amazing thread...breathlessly...and I was so happy for you...the way everything turned out...the alignments that occurred (your Dad)...it was truly meant to be, and I understand it completely.

I knew Brody was mine the instant I saw a typed paper looking for a "good home" for a "purebred Yorkshire Terrier"...and there was nothing but words on the paper...no picture of him...but I felt it that he was mine.

There was a picture of Mia, but I knew she was coming home with me, too, and when I called the next morning, the lady said she was surprised at the quick response (my email) because she had just posted the ad to re-home Mia only a couple minutes earlier.

I know their backgrounds to a certain extent, but who the breeders were or pedigrees or registrations did not play into my instantaneous love for Brody or Mia...and for my little Stormy Dean who we rescued in my childhood...heck, I didn't know what a "breeder" or "pedigree" was back then. lol

These babies wriggle into your heart, mind, spirit, and soul, and there is no way to cleanse them away...nor would I want to!

I did the same thing when I got my black Lab mix, Ebony. I saw her in the paper for adoption with the Humane Society. No picture. I told my husband that we were going to go get her, and name her Ebony. I hadn't even seen her, but some how I just knew! As soon as we got to the vet where she'd been dumped off, I saw her and fell in love! We got her before we had kids, and had her for 15 1/2 wonderful years. My oldest son was 12 when she passed away. It will be 7 years in February, since she passed and I still miss her dearly.
