| "Pickets Syndrome" aka facial hair gone wrong So at Toby's last check up the vet tech came at him (and his painfully slow growing puppy hair) with scissors! I know am over reacting a bit but I love his hair and his first grooming appt is only a couple weeks away (he is about 15 weeks)... Her rational was he will start snapping bc of "pickets syndrome" if his hair is in his eyes. Yes I see her point... Kind of Do you have a good solution for facial hair in that in between length? I bought rubber bands made for braces which hold really well but in order to get the little nose hairs out of the way he would have a unicorn horn. Ideas? Feel free to tell me to suck it up and cut his hair too. Lol |

| I, personally, don't like the eye hair cut. Once you cut it, you are forever cutting it to maintain. I much prefer to grow it out, you can use a lil vaseline or baby hair gel to direct the hair growth...and a lil band lower down helps too when they are young. ZoE had a lil fountain right on her forehead for months...looked kinda silly, but helped keep her hair out of her eyes while it was growing.

| I agree I never cut the hair below the eyes it will be sticking up every two weeks. Once its at a good lenght it will never stick up again use a flea comb to clean the yuckis and thats it. I dont know why groomers dont tell clients this. |

| So glad you mentioned this! I was doing this as a last resort and afraid that my groomer would laugh at my resourcefulness! |

| The groomer cut Holly bangs even though I specifically said to leave her face hair alone. Now I am in the process of growing it back out. I bought some of those tiny baby bows that snap inside out. I'm not sure what they're called but you pop them up to open them then back to close them. I put a little Vaseline on it and snap the bow in. It looks pretty cute for a growing out process! |

| I don't like cutting the eye hair either. Did she actually cut it? That would not make me happy. I think maintenance is so much easier with the hair long. And I love the way it looks too.

| The vet tech cut your pup's hair??? Don't let her do that again, unless you want her to. I have never heard of this syndrome, but I do know plenty of Yorkies have survived the awkward growing out stage. We used a tiny dab of Vaseline to smooth the mustache hair down and a little PetSilk or All Systems topknot gel to keep the bangs up. Just be careful that none of it goes in the eye. You don't want to put it right in the corner of the eyes. Both of my boys had a little unicorn topknots for awhile. It doesn't last long. Frequent combing trains the hair, and maybe stimulates growth.

| Wyomingirl, I hope I didn't scare you with the Palm Tree. It can look much cuter with more grooming practice.
