| A Yorkie Vacation I was thinking earlier today it would be fun to go to like a Yorkie convention or get together at a vacation destination where people could take their Yorkie (or at least a toy breed) and get to include their dog in the hotel, restaurant if they want too, & all the activities. No big dogs allowed. I love big dogs too, but I get tired of people letting their big dogs off leash all the time when they aren't suppose to or not paying attention to them, and I don't know how it will react. Sounds like a fun vacation to me! I'd have to work on her sunglass wearing skills so she'd look awfully cute!

| I wouldn't mind an island with nothing but yorkie moms and dads and yorkies.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Great idea! We've had large meetups before, but they've been in cities where the focus was on people. We met in Alexandria, Va., in 2009 and had a blast. But the only time for dogs to play was a couple hours at a local dog park. The rest of the time we carried them around the hotel or a banquet area. I'd be interested in a meetup where the focus is on the dogs.

| Every year for about 15 years now, greyhound owners meet over Columbus Day weekend in Dewey Beach, DE. There are THOUSANDS of greyhounds every year. The greyhounds stay in the hotels, go in the shops and some of the restaurants that have outdoor seating. Health regulations prohibit them to be in the other restaurants. It is a blast! It all started many years ago with 3 or four members of a greyhound forum decided to get together with their greyhounnds and then grew from there. There are all kinds of seminars, socials and shopping, along with a yearly brunch that always has a speaker. One year it was Betty White! All of the proceeds from the brunch go to The Morris Animal Foundation. It started small and just grew and grew. It is called Greyhounds Reach the Beach and has spread to the adjoinind towns, one being Rehoboth Beach. So anything is possible! |

| That does sound like lots of fun. An island would be great, they are usually layed back and have lots of outdoor restaurants. I can't imagine Heidi on a plane, but I might be willing to try it. I'm sure "Miss Has-to-Be-On-My-Lap" at all times would be throwing a major freak out under that seat & certainly there are no islands around here!

| Sure would be nice if we could all meet in a more central location instead of the east or south east areas. Makes it just too far to travel for us in the west.

| Oklahoma is certainly central, but its not very exciting... Galveston would be a great place maybe. Haven't actually been there.
