Every year for about 15 years now, greyhound owners meet over Columbus Day weekend in Dewey Beach, DE. There are THOUSANDS of greyhounds every year. The greyhounds stay in the hotels, go in the shops and some of the restaurants that have outdoor seating. Health regulations prohibit them to be in the other restaurants.
It is a blast! It all started many years ago with 3 or four members of a greyhound forum decided to get together with their greyhounnds and then grew from there. There are all kinds of seminars, socials and shopping, along with a yearly brunch that always has a speaker. One year it was Betty White! All of the proceeds from the brunch go to The Morris Animal Foundation.
It started small and just grew and grew. It is called Greyhounds Reach the Beach and has spread to the adjoinind towns, one being Rehoboth Beach. So anything is possible! |
