I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | The YTCA recommends that breeder keep puppies a minimum of 12 weeks, not only will you be more successful with housebreaking if you wait longer, but you will have less biting problems. I personally wouldn't buy from a breeder who sold that early; she hasn't studied the breed, and probably doesn't do any genetic testing. I know you are anxious, but this is something that you'll have if you’re lucky 16 years, so buying a healthy puppy is really important. Genetic illnesses can be financially and emotionally draining.

| Its really best he stay with his mom until 12 weeks because there is a lot of things a puppy learns from there mom and siblings up until 12 weeks. I don't wanna be rude but I worry about how great this breeder is if there not doing what reputable breeders know to do with yorkies.

| Welcome to YT...and I have to agree....waiting till 12 weeks is the best for the pup. My first yorkie was given to us at 8 weeks and we had lots of trouble with potty training and biting. He was also very distrustful of strangers. Now with Trixie....her breeder kept her till she was 12 weeks and she has a much easier going personality...no biting at all and much more success with potty training.

| Welcome Lots of nice people and a wealth of information here. Oh my... 7-9 weeks is really early to be taken away from mom and sibs. Please be sure you keep forti-cal (or equivalent), and an emergency vet number on hand.

| I would also ask if she did health testing on the parents.

| Hi welcome. Is this a responsible breeder? Most breeders should know not to separate them from littermates and mother before 12 weeks... 8 weeks at the very bare minimum but 12 is recommended for small dogs. He will learn a lot from his litermates and mother about socializing plus it would be traumatic for such a small dog to be taken from his family. |
