Also, for high five did you do the same thing as teaching shake but just hold your hand higher so he high five's higher and it's not just a shake? If I say high five put my hand higher he reaches out like a shake but has head looking higher at my hand and aiming higher to hit my hand. He use to be calm and docile and has turned so hyper and wiggly it's hard to teach him.

| Hi everybody,I've done a video of the tricks that Mimě can do...the video is a bit dark but it's possible to make an idea. ![]() When I teach a new trick I use to get her a treat and a loud "BRAAAAVAAAA!!!!",I use both verbal solicitation and gesture. When she has already learn the new trick I start to remove the treat so she doesn't do it just for food but I always congratulate her. here is a demonstration ![]() Yorkshire Terrier and tricks - YouTube

| Just an update. Charlie now knows: sit lay down shake stay gimmie kisses go potty ...or just potty pick you up we started crawl, but quit after awhile spin right I taught him spin right in just a few sessions over the weekend! I started with only the hand/finger signal but now that he is doing that 100% of the time I've added the verbal cue. I stopped teaching him commands on the couch. I have him on the floor while I'm sitting in a chair. I also bought a clicker and it helped so much. Picked up all toys/distractions. Need to work on "come" now since he "stays" so well. Sometimes he will stay laying down or sitting just waiting on his treat, lol. Need to phase treat out and figure out a way to get him to just get up. Any ideas? For "come" should I just say his name and "come" while he is still in "stay"??? And click when he reaches my hand then treat? |

| What I did was had the treat in my hand and did a circle around Charlie (weeks ago he would only back up so I didn't even try then). He followed my hand and the second he made that full circle I clicked. Gradually I lifted my hand up further to my knees and then chest. At first I had to do a medium sized circle w/ my hand in the air. Now I just do a tiny circle at my chest level w/ a finger and he spins. He literally learned this in a few short sessions over the weekend. |

![]() Lola on the other hand we got when she was already 14 months old...she is a princess. Her best trick is batting her eye lashes at you while looking bewildered. I have not decided if she is ummm....not quite as smart as Tucker or just way more stubborn. She however is also a champion snuggler! I really do know how to train basic skills but I can not even convince her to sit.
