| Two came from the Humane Society, two are retired breeders (not bred by me).

| No, I've never rescued a yorkie. But growing up my father used to rescue pits, and Rottweilers. He eventually let me rescue a westie terrier (her name was Miley), and I loved her to bits and pieces. But she died about 2 and half years after we got her (kidney failure). As we all know a lot of rescue and shelter animals Dont always come in the best health. & I was completely torn a pretty much crushed when she died. I haven't rescued since.... And I am DEFINITELY NOT saying I will never rescue again, I'm just saying I needed time to heal, because in my opinion 2 years was definitely not enough. (though, I Was ans still am very thankful for those 2 years) That may sound a little selfish but anyone that has lost a pet after only a short while knows what I'm saying. But with that being said I will definitely be rescuing or adopting my next fur baby (when the time is right).... Which will most likely be a yorkie or yorkie mix.

| I rescued Gismo from the Humane Society on 12/2/11. See avatar. Gizmo was picked up as a stray and according to both the shelter and our vet he was 11 months old. We are amazed at how good he has been. He has never had ani accident in the house, even asks to go out. From the beginning we have allowed him run of the house even at night. We are retired but when we do go out to doctors he is good and does not bother anything. We do put him in our master bedroom but he did have access to our bathroom. He is intelligent and learns commands quickly. We couldnt be more pleased.

I haven't ever adopted a shelter yorkie and probably never would. The chances of finding a healthy REAL YORKIE in a shelter near me, here in the States, are extremely slim. There are many listed as "yorkie" or "yorkie mix"...but take a look at the pictures and they either look nothing like a yorkie, or are very old and/or have serious health issues. I wouldn't deliberately choose a yorkie with health problems and I'm not at all interested in a mix of any kind...cos then its just a dog...and I know this might sound strange to some (and I'm not meaning any offence to those with other dog breeds as family members) but I definately wouldn't label myself a "dog lover".....I'm just a "yorkie lover"...so nothing but a yorkie would do for me. I would, however, consider rehoming someone's yorkie, if the right one came along. There was a local grown woman whose elderly mother passed away and she was looking to place her mum's yorkie....I'd be open to that kind of situation.

| I certainly would adopt a Yorkie from a shelter if I were looking to add another Yorkie anytime soon. There was a total sweetheart of a little Yorkie boy in the Charlotte shelter earlier this month. He was adopted within two days. Small breeds, especially young ones, are adopted out pretty quickly here. I've never adopted from a shelter, but I do have a little sweetie from a Yorkie rescue group. I made sure I had money set aside for emergencies and vet care since I don't know much about his background. Thankfully, he has been perfectly healthy since I brought him home. I have been very, very lucky. I loved adopting an adult pup - I knew his size, coloring, and temperament before I brought him home. He is *exactly* the pup I wanted. Feisty, playful, and brave wrapped in a tiny package - all Yorkie, all the way.

| I have a shih tzu, i call her my second hand dog her owner moved from the UK to Germany with her then she wanted to come back to the UK but she didn't know that suki had to have a blood test before being allowed back in the uk so she had to leave her in a kennels in France, the owner was only meant to leave her for 6 months but when she came back to the UK her husband had sold there home so she had to go in to rented housing and could not find anywhere willing to allow pets so suki was in kennels for 13 months until she was homed to me and she was only 18 months old the owner arranged everything though, she got her brother in law to drive from Germany to the UK to pick up suki's toys and bed then drive back to France to get suki and then drive back to the uk to me...all in one day

| I fully agree there no point having any dog unless you can afford everything it needs mind you saying that getting a puppy from a breeder is no guarantee that the pup will grow up healthy Quote:

Donating YT Addict | I would LOVE to adopt a shelter yorkie & save a life. No, Bee was not a shelter yorkie, she was from a breeder, but I have nothing against adopting shelter dogs & dogs in need. Where I live I hardly ever see small dogs such as yorkie/bichion frise/shih tzu etc. in shelters. With my next yorkie I plan to rescue for sure, as soon as I get a new place & get settled I think it is a great thing to do.
