| Congrats on your new boy..he is very handsome! I have a 13 wk old female. I understand the whole potty thing...we are trying to train her to use the potty outside...for the most part she "gets it", but we still take her out often..15 mins after meals and once every one/two hours. We have three other dogs, so someone has to go at at some point, so when they go, she goes. She still will poop or pee in the house though, but she is getting better at going to the sliding glass door and stand there..her signal...i have to go! Dilegence is key....your guy is still small...its gonna take time....it can be frustrating, but I remind myself that she is still very young like your lil guy. The crate thing....i can work up to 7 hours...hubby works out of town and leaves at 5:45 am and doesnt get home til 7:00 pm.....i would suggest getting a play yard...bed..toys..etc. Sunnyhas never had an accident in hers, but the first thing I do when I get home is scoop her up and take her out....before I go to work, I take her out..i actually wake up two hours before I have to go to work and let her run around the house and when I get home she gets rhe run of the house, with very small intervals of her play yard...ie..time outs for getting to rammy...cat nap...they still sleep alot..or I am making dinner and she is under foot....let her run as much as possible before and after you get home. The chewing thing...puppies chew...ALOT....on EVERYTHING....bully sticks....pig ears....squeaker toys...plastic water bottles...with lid and label taken off...empty of course! As for the whinning....is there a way to leave a tv on or a radio on...some kind of noise...on low, of course... Sleeping in bed.....hmmmm...no...for me.....our sleep is waaaay too important. Lol Bobbi

| Since he has to be alone all day you may want to get him a friend ![]() Good luck with the potty training. Mine is a little over 5 months and I'm still trying to get him to go outside consistently but he still likes to go inside every now and then. Sooner or later they all learn...well, most of them ![]() Oh and mine sleeps in the bed every night now. I used to crate him at night but now he sleeps all night in bed.

| Haha thanks everyone... Some guy at petsmart said a friend would be a bad thing, but I'm not sure of that... we wanted a yorkie and a mini schnauzer too. |

I don't know about you though, but one puppy is enough work for me and my boyfriend. If we had another one, ah I don't know what we'd do. Puppies need lots of attention and right now, we only have enough to give 1 puppy the attention.

| Or if you have a pet sitter in the area - maybe you could have them come in at least once during the 9 hours you are gone to take him out of his crate or pen and play with him a bit. I agree a friend would be good too. We trained Jack to use the puppy pads first once he had that down, we introduced going out to go potty. Now he enjoys going out more than using the potty pads (he looks like he is embarrassed or has the look that says "Mom, I'm a big boy now and do I hafta use this pad?!?" unless its rainy, snowing too much or too cold/windy, he would prefer to go outside. I always keep a close eye on him though because there are stories of wild animals (coyotes in particular) and birds of prey scooping up these little ones for dinner. With you having the wildlife around you, you need to be careful when letting them out. We let Jack sleep with us. He has never wet the bed and he's been sleeping with us since about day 5 that we had him. By the way, Newton is just a little doll baby! Congrats and good luck with him!
