| Kong Chew Toy What does everyone think about the Kong toy? I read they are rubber. Can the dog chew them up? What size do you recommend for a Yorkie and a Schnauzer (a strong chewer). Also, can you stuff them with plain peanut butter, and do you have to freeze them? Thanks.

| I have a kong puppy for my 4 month old yorkie. It has these stick treats to put instead of the spray. I don't recommend filling the whole thing with peanut butter (that's super fattening, use the stuff they make for it) plus it would probably make a mess. I really like the wubba it's like a covered kong with strings hanging off. Teddy loooves it, but he wont touch the regular kong unless it has a treat inside.

| We have a kong for Oz. They can't chew it up, its' too hard. We have the smallest size for our pup, who weighs about 5 lbs. I would not FILL it with peanut butter either, but if you want to smear a small amount of all natural peanut butter inside it that would probably be ok once in a while. For Oz, I use it as his irrestistible treat for going into his playpen before I go to work. I fill it with a good quality wet dog food and stuff one small hard treat into that. Takes him a while to work through it and it is his breakfast. When I let him out of his playpen after work he has a great time tossing it around trying to get every last bit of food out of it.

| My little guy is extremely rough on his toys. We LOVE his Kong. They have the Kong extreme (black instead of red) for super-strong chewers. We have both the regular red and the extreme black. Levi has never been able to chew through either. He'll occasionally carry the Kong around and play with it even when nothing is in it...but adores when it's filled with goodies. If you do a YT search, there are lots of threads with good ideas about what to put in a Kong. We usually just put his regular kibble in the Kong and seal it with a tiny bit of peanut butter. Freezing isn't necessary - just makes it last longer!

| What size(s) would you guys recommend for a 6 lb yorkie, a 9 lb chorkie, and a 18 lb schnauzer? P.S. I checked the threads as suggested but can't find anything on size.

| Jackson, my 16lb'er does well with the Kong Classic Medium (the red one) but he could also use the Large if we wanted. I usually put some kibble in there and then seal it with wet food, then put it in the freezer. He enjoys it. I used to also put plain non fat frozen yogurt in there and freeze it, but he started not caring for it, and then he'd only lick the top off and I'd have to clean out the rest so I stopped doing yogurt... I dogsit and one of the dogs always has a Kong stuffed with kibble and peanut butter -- it's organic no fat unsalted PB though.

| My lil guy is 5.5 pounds and does perfectly with the small size. Brother's whippet is about 24 pounds, and his Kong is the medium size.

| Tashi is 5.5 and has two smalls and two extra smalls. If you have a real tough chewer, buy the black one, it is harder to destroy :P I fill hers with mashed home made dog-food and top it on each end with peanut butter. I freeze them because it takes them longer to get the contents out :P If i'm feeling lazy , I use a small sandwich bag and cut off a corner tip, put a teaspoon or less of PB in there, Squeeze a bit of that into the kong , then i squish the kong together so that all of the walls of the inside are coated but it is still hollow and I freeze that. She tries to lick all of the peanut butter out of the inside. She's not much of a chewer anyway. That keeps her busy for about 20-30 min :P |

| Thanks everyone. Now I have a better idea of what sizes to get and what to put in them. I'll get 2 smalls and 1 medium black one. Thanks a bunch!
